Scope of ServicesKey Responsibilities
Provide individual and group counselling to students under the supervision of the Senior School Counsellor.
Coordinate closely with the Senior School Counsellor to work with staff, parents, and external agencies; conduct home visits when required.
Refer students and families to community resources or external professionals, with guidance from the Senior School Counsellor.
Assist in crisis intervention and follow-up support for critical incidents (e.g., trauma, behavioural or mental health issues).
Maintain case records, documentation, and progress updates for school management.
Support the Senior Counsellor in developing and implementing school-wide counselling programmes.
Collaborate regularly with teachers, parents, school leaders, and external agencies (FSCs, MSF, ComLink, VWOs) to promote student well-being.
Assist with content creation and teaching resources where needed.
Operational Scope
With guidance, conduct one-to-one sessions, small-group activities, and workshops for Tier 2 and 3 students.
Facilitate group sessions such as circle time, journaling, and goal-setting.
Liaise with parents and teachers regarding student concerns and support strategies.
Participate in home visits or coordinate with external agencies for complex cases.
Maintain records, monitor student progress, and support policy/programme reviews related to student wellness.
Assist with crisis intervention and provide follow-up support under close supervision.
Qualifications and SkillsQualifications
Minimum
Diploma
or equivalent in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or related fields.
Counselling qualifications recognised by
Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC)
preferred.
Familiarity with child-focused counselling approaches (e.g., CBT, Play Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Counselling).
Skills
Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and resilience.
Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to school well-being initiatives.
Proficiency in basic IT tools (Microsoft Office, student management systems) for documentation.
Experience
Preferably
2+ years
of relevant experience in school/community-based social work, youth work, or educational settings.
Experience working with children or adolescents in developmental or intervention programmes.
Familiarity with collaborations involving schools, parents, and community agencies.
Experience facilitating after-school programmes or group work is an advantage.
