Can be based in Singapore or Shanghai but with a common law background (qualified in Singapore/ Hong Kong/ England & Wales);
Role heavily focused in international arbitration and disputes work largely centred around Mainland China clients and work (with an emphasis on shipping and trading work);
Some exposure and involvement in the non-contentious side, e.g., sanctions;
Business Development and commercial awareness and confidence in building rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business\' needs and with the assistance of the partners, actively developing client relationships;
Travel within China occasionally;
Collaboration to work with the wider team across Singapore, Hong Kong and the APAC region.
Candidate Profile
3-5 years\' of post qualification experience;
Common law background and qualified in common law jurisdiction(s) (HK/SG/E&W) is essential;
Strong general litigation and international arbitration background;
Experience in shipping/ international trade matters;
Experience working with reputable or international law firms is preferred;
Language proficiency is key, conversant in business Mandarin is a requirement;
Drafting in Chinese would be advantageous but not essential;
Strong academics, self-driven, a \'can do\' approach, with excellent verbal and written communications skills;
Strong time management skills and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in order to meet deliverables to a very high standard.
