Role Overview

The Associate Art Director helps develop and implement Money20/20\xe2\x80\x99s visual identity and creative strategy while maintaining a keen eye on the competitive landscape and key market trends. They will lead improvement initiatives to enable them to generate innovative, best-in-class, and forward-thinking creative that inspires and drives customer engagement. The role holder will help ensure the Brand is ahead of the competition and consistently delivering creative that meets and exceeds expectations, demonstrated by quantitative (growth, retention, engagement) and qualitative (design reviews and internal/external feedback) insight.

The Associate Art Director displays leadership and confidence working within an international organisation and supports teams and leads/directs team members across multiple geographies. They will ensure creativity is adapted and flexed for local market needs, rising to the challenge of a truly global business.

Key Accountabilities

  • With oversight from the Art Director, you will oversee the Brand\xe2\x80\x99s creative and production strategy and direct the design team and freelancers/agencies to deliver a high standard of creative output that is on time and on spec
  • Review and sign off work created by designers to ensure they adhere to set Brand Guidelines and meet the project brief (tone, style, mood, audience, actions)
  • Support the development, update, and governance of the Master Brand, as well as individual campaign style guidance
  • Work with the Creative Project Manager to assign projects to the design team (based on skills); Check the workflow is balanced and running on time and on spec
  • Partner with Brand leaders to lead creative brand planning sessions and all-in creative reviews (at regular intervals). Celebrate successes and ensure that learning is implemented by way of improving future work/ways of working
  • Support communications for changes in processes, policies, practices or procedures in a clear, concise manner to the team
  • Keep up to date with market developments and good practice to help develop innovative solutions enabling best-in-class creative and production methodologies that can be utilised to improve the content output and prospect/subscriber experience
  • Be an active member of the design team and design hero campaigns and high-level graphics

Leadership
  • Managing, coaching, and motivating a high-performing and engaged team within the area of specialisation, developing and retaining the very best design talent
  • Inspiring others to develop and succeed within Ascential
  • Lead design critiques with designers/freelancers/agencies to drive work and help increase visibility, accelerate productivity, share distinct perspectives and encourage collaboration
  • Empowering others to work in unison help lead creative solutions
  • Monitors design team resources, anticipate future needs, and communicates whether the team is fully resourced
  • Discussing agreed targets, KPI\xe2\x80\x99s and performance measures with the Marketing Director to be reviewed with the team regularly and fairly in line with company expectations
  • Supporting review conversations with team members to identify high performance and manage poor performance ensuring that all appraisals are completed on time and the employee has a personal development plan that is acted upon
  • Helping implement, where appropriate, training and development sessions to ensure the team is fully equipped to deliver against expectations
  • Support the career development paths for individuals with guidance from the Art Director and HR and identifying high performers for future growth champions
Skills, experience & qualifications required
  • Experience as a Sr. Designer with experience managing designers and setting/leading strategic creative art direction for an organization
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the creative industry
  • Experienced in brand design creation and execution
  • Great communication skills. Can give constructive feedback as well as present ideas to stakeholders. Able to listen and explain concepts to designers and non-designers alike
  • Proven ability to lead and provide clear work direction to direct reports and management of their performance
  • Proficient in all required creative programs and a strong understanding of web and print design capabilities. Knowledgeable of the latest technologies and movements within the field
  • Able to lead design and production for an array of marketing and branding materials for digital, print, and event collateral and campaigns
  • Proven career path within the area of expertise, demonstrating a deep understanding of the area of expertise - seen to be and or known as an industry leader within their areas of expertise
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to lead and work with an international matrix team to ensure that the design and production of marketing and branding content outputs are of a consistently high standard
  • Skilled at brand design, typography, colour, logo design, print production, and image selection
  • Understanding of photography, illustration, and event design
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a must
