Role Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities are to improve and maintain the existing analytics capabilities within the department, with the purpose of market abuse surveillance. In addition, the incumbent will take part in various projects and activities undertaken by Surveillance such as scenario logics assessment, compliance reviews, technology enhancements and projects etc. Strategy

  • Responsible for operating various detective monitoring controls under second line compliance function, which are designed to detect potential instances of market abuse or other forms of market misconduct, through orders, quotes and trades.
Business
  • Awareness and understanding the various market abuse regulations globally in which the Group operates.
  • Understanding the Group’s business strategy as well as Compliance mandate in supporting the business.
  • Understanding booking practices and models to implement and refine analytics in the department.
Processes
  • Lead / Participate in the project’s life-cycle process from requirements gathering, functional specifications, User Acceptance Testing, release management, where relevant, to ensure that the implementation is aligned with the surveillance strategy of the bank.
  • Ensure relevant assigned workstreams follows a business agile methodology, managing both internal and external resources, and meeting planned timelines.
  • Responsible for the detailed analysis of various projects that may involve data analysis, scenario analysis, and alert investigation processes with relevant training provided.
  • Use of data analytics to better enhance scenario alerts implementation through feedback and collaboration with the various teams.
  • Apply various statistical methodologies in analysis of data for various parameters to obtain desired threshold setting outcome, so as to enhance quality of alerts generation.
  • Participate in the scenario logics reviews, enhancements and lead the engagements with stakeholders for implementation and operationalization.
  • Innovate with skills and experience to better the surveillance framework for the Group.
  • Pro-active identification of risks and concerns, including escalation to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Timely mitigation and resolution of risks and issues, establishments of effective controls, in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
People and Talent
  • Required to guide or mentor junior members within the team where necessary with regards to daily BAU processes and also project management and / or testing related activities.
Risk Management
  • Identify key issues of the workstreams assigned and work towards resolving, if not escalating where required.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure risks are comprehensively identified, assessed and managed.
  • Support all control checks approved by Operational Risk Framework (ORF) and be accountable for identification and escalation of potential risks and issues to senior management through appropriate governance channels and the Quality Assurance framework.
  • Comply with and adhere to relevant risk management policies.

  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
Regulatory and Business Conduct

  • Support the delivery of key priorities and initiatives aligned to the Surveillance Compliance scorecard.
  • Keeping people advised about important developments that may affect them and how they work.

  • Taking ownership of issues and be willing to work across organizational boundaries and structures i.e horizontally and vertically.
  • Taking a bigger picture view – what delivers the best overall benefit for the team or the Bank.
  • Identifying ways in which development can be achieved with higher quality and lower effort.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Tertiary Education.
  • 2 + years of relevant experience in Trade Surveillance, Data Analytics and / or Compliance.
  • Analytical and good knowledge of financial products in a bank, business flow and process.
  • Proficient in MS Suite / KDB+ and q programming language data queries.
  • Experience in agile and lean methodology.
