JOB SUMMARY





This is a 3-month contract role based in Singapore to help build synergy and knowledge transfer between SC China Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) business and Singapore and ASEAN CIB businesses, in the areas of implementing and executing the internal and external Bank-wide communications strategy. The preferred candidate has to have in-depth knowledge of the Chinese corporate business environment and is expected to share expertise about China-ASEAN relations to better help raise the profile of ASEAN as a location for Chinese companies to expand their business into.


RESPONSIBILITIES




Strategy



Work with Group, and respective ASEAN business communications teams and key stakeholders to gain an in-depth understanding of Singapore's financial ecosystem and the broader ASEAN market landscape, including Standard Chartered's local business priorities, growth strategies, and positioning in key sectors. Through direct engagement and on-the-ground experience, develop a holistic view of how the Bank's cross-border and affluent strategy is executed regionally and ensure coordinated approach to communications, as well as consistency in delivery quality outcomes


Business



Build profile of the CIB business in Singapore and ASEAN, with a focus on strategy, business capabilities and achievements, thought leadership, management expertise, community initiatives and employee engagement by providing insights about China's market dynamics and media insights, development strategy, key initiatives, core messaging, as well as insights into the Chinese media landscape to enhance our brand building strategy.
Strengthen knowledge of CIB Communications and China-ASEAN Corridor business in order to engage with Singapore-based Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) teams to better understand the Bank's strategic initiatives and service offerings.
Develop communications strategy to highlight the evolving needs of Chinese corporates and institutions operating or investing in Singapore and ASEAN, and how the Bank supports them through cross-border solutions, so as to effectively reinforce the Bank's position as a trusted partner for China-ASEAN connectivity.



Processes


Develop and execute CIB internal and external communications plan Identify opportunities which directly support business operations and the achievement of business goals. Manage CIB client communications in partnership with various CIB business teams Proactive management of media opportunities Proactive management of reputational risks Identify proactive media interviews/profiling opportunities and manage relationship with the media



Risk Management



Manage high profile client complaints, publicly noticeable incidents, crisis management and proactively deal with threats to the Bank's reputation Monitor media and social media for and during issues/crises


Governance



Ensure compliance with the Bank's communications Standards and Policies in-country

Our Ideal Candidate



Ideally a bachelor's degree in a communication or business-related discipline 7+ years of experience in a communications role in a leading international financial institution or international conglomerate Strong planning and interpersonal skills Experience in driving external and internal communications strategies Strong understanding of media and social media including deadlines, interests, agendas, etc, and good relationship with media contacts
Strong relationship building skills Ability to operate with the highest integrity and discretion Critical thinking skills to exercise judgement and continuously looking for better and more effective ways of working Good responsiveness and the ability to think on his/her feet Ability to respond calmly and effectively in high-pressure situations or environment Stakeholder management skills Planning and organisation skills A positive, engaging and professional attitude and persona
