Role Responsibilities Business We are hiring in the Greater China and North Asia Portfolio (“GCNA”) of the Global Subsidiaries Group of Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking. The Global Subsidiaries Group looks at all inbound business in Singapore from a CCIB perspective and the GCNA team focuses on banking coverage of a few businesses relating to groups domiciled particularly in China and having business in Singapore: Commodities Traders and Agribusiness (“CTA”), Metals and Mining and Oil and Gas, Consumers, Technologies, Healthcare. These businesses are core segments of the Bank and are expected to make a significant contribution in delivering the Bank’s growth aspirations. SCB has been one of pioneers in these areas in the past, launching new products and solutions that were the first of its kind for the industry and we continue to lead the way in Asia for these businesses given our product capability and network. We are looking for a dynamic and energetic team-mate to join the Global Subsidiaries team in Singapore to work with the GCNA team as a Credit Analyst as well as work with Senior Relationship Managers in the team to manage some of the larger accounts. As a member of the Team, you will manage the credit for a portfolio of diverse GCNA (in particular China) clients and work with RM’s to deliver to these clients the whole array of the Bank’s product suite of Transaction Banking (“TB”), Lending and Global Credit Markets (“GCM”) which includes Financial Markets and Corporate Finance. As such, the role involves working closely with key stakeholders (RM’s, Credit, TB, FM, Distribution, Portfolio Management etc.) to align GCNA business strategy and drive the business growth. Processes
  • The candidate would be primarily responsible for managing the Credit risk associated with the portfolio and ensuring high quality of the portfolio. This includes managing ongoing quality of portfolio, producing exception reports, review credit extending across entire portfolio to ensure consistency of approach.
  • The candidate will also be work closely with the RM for origination and coverage of a portfolio and play a vital role in deal structuring to add good value from a credit / policy perspective as well as facilitate revenue growth in the portfolio.
  • Responsible for working with the Global Account Managers (GAM), Risk and Product Partners in Ideation, origination, and structuring & distribution solutions and in delivering the SCB network to our clients.
  • End to end deal management - from identifying needs, structuring to term-sheet and credit approvals. Coordinate inputs and approvals from internal stakeholders on transactions.
  • Work with RM on executing country account plans of the clients they cover, establishing, and maintaining an understanding of the client and their needs and steering the client relationship along with the relevant GAM.
  • Acts as a champion of the Bank’s brand, culture, and conduct standards.
  • Provide client insights in relation to an industry sector, client information and account plans.
  • Provide creative recommendations to Relationship Managers by monitoring peer groups and competitors and undertaking industry reviews based on non-standard industry / company information / data (equity, credit reports, press and magazine reports).
  • Evaluate learning around exception cases and seek to share this with other Analysts to help properly capture risk profiles and ensure robust credit analysis.
  • Assist, train and mentor Junior Credit Analysts, Interns and International Graduates.
  • Assist Head CA / Relationship Managers / other team members on ad-hoc projects / deals etc. as and when required.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Excellent analytical skills, with proven ability to interpret, analyse and present information.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to manage multiple stakeholders across Industry, Product and Risk.
  • 4 + years of professional experience as a credit analyst.
  • Deal experience and understanding of Product capabilities of the Bank to help identify business opportunities and associated risks.
  • Strong Credit and business strategy skills, with experience in managing large global clients or product teams.
  • Self-confident person with a high level of drive, dedication, pride and exceptional attention to detail and a team player.
  • Degree or post graduate qualified from a top-tier school.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance obligations.
Role Specific Technical Competencies
  • We are looking for an individual with a Can-Do Attitude and who is a Team Player focused on building a value accretive Business for the bank by doing more with our clients while managing risk. Specific skills include
    • Credit Risk Management
    • Credit Analysis / Quantitative Analysis
    • Good hands on exposure to financial modelling
    • Solution / Deal Structuring
    • Corporate Banking Product Knowledge (in particular Trade financing products)
    • Industry / Business Knowledge
    • Account Strategy and Planning
    • Knowledge of China market
    • Previous exposure to working with Chinese groups having operations in Singapore or any other location as the
    • Familiarity with banking regulations in China
    • Exposure to Chinese culture and ability to understand and communicate (business communication) in Mandarin as the role will focus on the North Asian corridor.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite of products will be required for the role.
