The person will oversee Climate and Environment strategy development and plan including setting and validation of Science Based Targets, development of Net Zero plan, drive organization wide efforts to build capacity and implementation plans on Net zero as and sustainable operations including environmental policy development, disclosures and environmental management i.e., waste/water reduction. He/she will also ensure that AIA is taking meaningful and strategic action on the most significant issues under Climate, Environment and Nature, that also delivers business impact e.g., lowers risk; drives growth and builds reputation.Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Group Sustainability in shaping the development and success of the net zero program by working with key stakeholders to establish a Science Based Target-aligned plan by 2023 and beyond, including the development of implementation plans and build out of key activities
  • Build the capabilities to monitor AIA\'s progress against our net zero plan and targets, and provide regular reporting on monitoring to senior management and the Board
  • Working with investment function, risk management, business, and key stakeholders, utilize climate scenarios, models, and analytics to advise on and determine emission targets for AIA\'s buildings, operations and investment portfolio
  • Track and evaluate emerging climate scenarios and decarbonization pathways and their relevance to AIA\'s net zero strategy
  • Follow climate science developments, industry and regulatory practices, and analyze and communicate their relevance to key stakeholders
  • Provide tools and analysis to support our businesses, investees, partners, vendors, and other related parties in developing net zero alignment and transition pathways, and in evaluating their net zero plans
  • Prepare climate-related portions of TCFD report and other climate disclosures
  • Develop and implement plans to improve environmental performance for AIA and help markets implement sustainable operations
  • Contribute to the creation of Net Zero, Climate and environment marketing and communication initiatives, campaigns and products, including thought leadership and events.
  • Support in building internal alignment, engagement and support for the Net Zero Initiative and coordinating with the local equivalents to share knowledge, learnings and success, and leverage experience across the Group.
  • Represent AIA at key partnerships and forums on climate and environment glean insights to take forward AIA\'s sustainability, climate, and nature approach in internal and external meetings including at international forums
  • Develop policy and advocacy positions on Climate and environment
  • Cascade Climate and environment program to the BUs/other functions building their engagement, capability and helping them take leadership policy positions in their markets
  • Strategize, develop, and implement policies to preserve natural capital, as relevant, including those related to conservation and biodiversity
  • Support engagement and capability building on Climate and environment for the organization
  • Outline opportunities to capture business value based on Climate and environment
  • Use of Data and Analytics for Climate risk modelling
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in relevant field such as environmental or climate science, with specialties in finance or economics and management
  • 10+ years\' experience working in corporate sustainability and environment roles, evidence of stakeholder engagement and management and implementation of impactful programs
  • 5+ years focus on climate , nature and preferably Net Zero and climate climate risk scenarios and decarbonization trajectories
  • Mastery over predominant climate scenarios, and awareness of regulatory and voluntary initiatives, including knowledge of key methodologies associated with energy and carbon reduction, e.g. energy assessments, carbon foot printing, life cycle assessment, carbon management, and broader sustainability such as; Climate Positive Pathway, Climate Active, PCAF, the UN SDGs, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with modelling, data analysis and data visualization tools, with climate scenario analysis experience from P&C insurance backgrounds preferred
  • Policy development and/or research experience in to low and net zero carbon, conservation, and biodiversity themes
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to convey information clearly, accurately and succinctly, with ability to craft high impact presentations with strong attention to details
  • Ability to work well collaboratively, both internally and with external partners and contractors
  • Have a keen interest and enthusiasm for sustainability in a life insurance setting.
  • Be a versatile, quick thinker and show willingness and ability to pick up new concepts quickly.
  • Strong quantitative skills and ability to work on data analytics, governance and management
  • Agile and collaborative, leveraging expertise from others when needed.
  • Minimum experience on Climate (> 5 years) with a total experience not less than 15 years
  • Strong understanding of and experience in implementation of Climate and environment program in companies
  • Understanding of policy, trend and regulatory landscape
  • Financial services and Insurance experience desirable but not necessary
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders and strong experience of achieving results
