SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION:
On April 1st, 2022, BD spun off its Diabetes Care business into a new publicly owned corporation, named embecta. Upon completion of the Diabetes Care spin-off, this role will report to the embecta Director, International IT. Additionally, this Associate Director role will have a functional reporting line to the China commercial regional leader.
Becton, Dickinson, and Company (BD) recently performed the spin-off of its Diabetes Care business unit into a separate public company, called embecta. The Diabetes Care business of BD, now embecta, is the industry pioneer and leader in diabetes injection devices. The Diabetes Care business unit had a long history within BD and was unique in that it focused on one significant disease state which is a threat to world health. BD Diabetes Care/embecta, has an unequalled reach and connection to diabetic patients and has well-established relationships with key diabetes stakeholders and influencers worldwide. BD Diabetes Care/embecta has leveraged deep expertise and advanced technologies to continuously innovate their portfolio specifically tailored to the needs of Type II diabetics. Products are diligently designed to enable people who are living with diabetes to do so with comfortable, effective care.
As embecta separates from BD, identifying the Information Technology entanglements, interdependencies and ensuring a seamless transition will be critical. In parallel, embecta will need develop its own Information Technology organization, strategy and roadmap. The China IT leader will be an integral member of the regional IT leadership team and the China leadership team charged with developing and executing a five-year strategy to enable embecta to separate quickly and grow on its own as an independent public company.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountable as the IT leader for Asia region (Japan, Korea, ANZ, SEA, South Asia).
  • Integrate IT with business strategy as a member of the Asia leadership team.
  • Collaborate with the IT Solution Delivery, Infrastructure Operations, Security, and Analytics teams to implement global IT solutions and address regional needs.
  • Work in conjunction with IT end user services and Workplace services to deliver an exceptional and consistent user experience through implementation of productivity technology, analytics, and service delivery that is appropriate to embecta scale and focused on what matters to users.
  • Work in conjunction with the embecta IT & Shared Services Business Office to align programs and projects to expedite exit of Transitional Services Agreements (TSA) with BD.
  • Scope, sequence, and track/monitor regional IT projects.
  • Drive change management and communications associated with process and technology implementations to maximize user adoption.

Key Year 1-2 Objectives:
  • Effective separation of embecta from BD, ensuring there are no disruptions following Day 1 during the separation period, which is a maximum of two years from Day 1.
  • Solidify core foundational services across IT delivery (sell, buy, make, ship, collect, close).
  • Build-out and stabilize key external partnerships.
  • Contribute to design and implementation of the target-state embecta IT operating model, collaborating with other functions to ensure that interdependencies are incorporated.
  • Drive enhanced customer experience through process optimization to achieve operational consistency, agility, and enablement of the front office to deliver market-differentiating service.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline required
  • Project management certification preferred
  • Training / certification in Six Sigma and/or Lean highly desirable
  • Minimum 7 years of IT operational leadership experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing third-party consultants and service providers
  • Must have experience working with global multi-cultural teams
  • ERP implementation experience (SAP experience preferred)
  • Experience leading and managing project/program teams, both direct and indirect
  • Experience with project-based resource allocation
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles and methodologies
  • Experience working with a variety of third-party technical & process organizations to achieve business goals

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Understanding of IT finance and accounting principles
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Able to develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for technical initiatives
  • Able to travel internationally up to 20%
  • Fluent in English
