The Role: Associate Editorial Director, Crude & Fuel Oil Markets, Asia

The Team: As the Asia part of a global Crude & Fuel Oil team, the Singapore-based team assesses oil prices and explains the market through commentary and news. The team includes a sub-team on Crude and one on Fuel, each of four/five people. The values published by the team are of critical importance to the world\'s oil markets.

The Impact: This key role in the Platts price reporting team is responsible for the assessment and coverage of some of Platts most important oil benchmarks in Asia and the Middle East. These benchmarks underpin physical and financial trades worth billions of dollars and provide a vital source of revenue from Platts subscribers. This role leads the team in assessing and explaining markets, as well as developing markets, evolving methodology, and resolving market issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Establishes and leads the publication and market pricing processes/workflow for Crude & Fuel Oil markets from our Singapore office, covering the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania.
  • Collaborates with production/editorial operations teams in the publishing process and software development.
  • Engages subscribers to better understand market and trends; and to increase understanding around reader relevance.
  • Represents SPGCI at events and in media spots.
  • Develops managerial talent within the team.
  • Regularly reviews the quality and content of news or pricing data produced in a sector/product area and develops and maintains Platts journalistic standards and practices.
What We\'re Looking For:
  • Proven experience of oil / commodity markets price reporting, writing & editing experience.
Deep subject-matter expertise across crude and refined products markets, and a working knowledge of refining, trading and hedging. * Leverages numeracy skills in the editorial process, including and understanding of statistics and finance.
  • Fluent English essential additional languages beneficial.
  • Experience of managing teams of over 4/5. Strong leadership ability - which utilizes influence and promotes team collaboration, development, and personal accountability.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and expert at problem/conflict resolution.
