Associate Principal Scientist - Imaging Mass spectrometry
Our Research Scientists are our Inventors. We discover and target steps in disease mechanisms or pathways, intending to identify effective agents in treating or preventing human disease. We collaborate to discover the next medical breakthrough using innovative thinking, state-of-the-art facilities, and robust scientific methodology.
Join us on an exciting journey to set up and lead Computational Biology and Bioinformatics within the Target & Pathway Biology group (Singapore). The successful candidate will implement bioinformatics solution to understand novel biological regulatory mechanisms and identify/develop biomarkers especially generated using imaging mass spectrometry platform to impact on the company's drug discovery pipeline. The candidate will work as the interface of Biology, functional -omics, statistics, and machine learning and will lead, coordinate, and integrate collaborative projects with company scientists worldwide as well as with academic and clinical investigators in Singapore. The candidate should have excellent background and track record in computational biology, machine learning, statistics and/or data analytics in multi-omics technology.
What should you have:
Subject matter expert in computational biology and data analytics especially using mass spectrometry data.
Lead and implement computational algorithms, machine learning and statistics to analyze -Omics and other complex biological data.
Integrate -Omics data to Identify novel biomarkers and mechanism of action across diverse disease areas.
Implement pipelines for extraction and analysis of data generated from mass spectrometry platforms.
Translate and derive an understanding of complex, large biological datasets using computational tools.
Curate and manage data storage using software infrastructure.
Collaborate and communicate with non-bioinformatics scientist to enable scientific advancement of complex projects under general scientific and administrative direction.
Work effectively in a matrix structure with cross-functional teams and across boundaries.
Propose and develop strategies for technical and scientific collaborations. Proactively pre-empt and respond to emerging project needs to align with business and disease area strategy.
Identify, evaluate and recommend new technologies or capital investment opportunities to maximize group efficiency, meet scientific objectives and promote the company as a leader in the field.
Supervise and train junior scientists to understand and implement relevant bioinformatics techniques to delineate complex biological datasets.
Optimize technology to support scientific/business processes. Seek opportunities and provide recommendations to enhance technology and support systems and adopt a continuous improvement approach to computational analysis techniques to improve quality, speed, efficiency and costs.
Ensure reliable documentation of analysis and results in electronic notebooks and other documents in compliance with company policies and project needs.
Operate autonomously to draft research project proposals, reports, publications, and other scientific communications related to research activities. Effectively develop and present a compelling case for research proposals, working collaboratively to gain support for such proposals
Sustain visibility, both inside and outside of disease or functional area by collaborating and presenting complex ideas and data.
Proactively plan and execute own career development strategy that advances technical and functional knowledge that contribute to overall direction of department/discipline.
Demonstrate consistent leadership behaviors. Ensure all activities comply with company codes of practice and local rules. Promote a culture of compliance among reports and colleagues. Involves in various site related activities.
What will you do:
Qualification:
Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Biology, Biochemistry, or other related fields. Strong background in biological computational modeling and complex data analysis using multi-omics data sets. Knowledge on mass spectrometry-based platforms is desirable.
Experience:
More than 5 years of post-PhD experience with demonstrated track record in computational biology. In depth knowledge of, and experience with computational modeling and analysis of omics datasets, statistics, and programming (e.g., Python, C, C++, R, or other related programming knowledge). Experience with genomic platforms and/or mass spectrometry is a plus. Strong team player that has a positive, proactive, can-do attitude. Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
