The External Managers Department seeks to identify and develop relationships with the best breed of global investment managers to benefit GIC at large, and at the same time capturing absolute return investment opportunities.
We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our team as a Portfolio Manager. The candidate will be part of the investment team which is responsible for external managers due diligence, selection, monitoring and portfolio construction.While the role will be focused on credit strategies, the candidate will get exposure to other asset classes; equities, macro, and quant. The role will be based in Singapore.Responsibilities

• Sourcing, hiring, and monitoring of external fund managers.
• Strategy level analysis, including periodic research, and surfacing potential investment opportunities for the team and GIC at large.
• As part of the credit team, the candidate will help to evaluate new and monitor existing investments and co-investments in credit funds by performing quantitative and qualitative analyses on hedge funds and other alternative absolute return strategies.

Requirements

• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a credit analysis role
• Previous training as a credit analyst / portfolio manager or experience in an Investment Banking team would be preferred, either in corporate credit (leveraged loans or high yield bonds) or in structured credit / real estate securities.
• Prior Fund or direct investing experience is an advantage but not necessary.
• Strong financial modeling and valuation skills.
• Excellent analytical ability, strong writing and communication skills and capital markets understanding
• Be highly motivated, intellectually curious and adept at multi-tasking.
• An independent thinker who can articulate his/her views well, both in verbal and written form.
