Responsibility:To support the achievement of Credit Department goals. These include:
Timely assessment of credit applications (including financial projections and market risks; where needed, provide guidance with front office business teams re content of draft credit applications) to meet SMBC\'s business requirements with balanced/ sound credit decisions and/or recommendations as the case may be; the foregoing includes preparing concise summary paper of the relevant credit application and (on a specific needs basis) supporting other teams in Credit Department.
Cooperating/ working closely with and supporting front office business teams, including reviewing and/or structuring complex transactions, terms and conditions, as well as reviewing analysis, content of credit application and proposed risk mitigants while recognising and respecting the difference in responsibilities between first and second lines of defence.
Checking correctness/ accuracy of details registered on credit approval/ monitoring system (GBR) and instructing front office business teams to modify as may be necessary.
Monitoring credit quality of portfolio (including any concentration risk and identifying special credit obligors) and reporting issues (actual or potential) in a timely manner.
Supporting Credit Department\'s credit cost management and goals (including providing necessary information to facilitate timely and meaningful credit costs provisioning/ budgeting).
Working/ liaising with other departments, such as SPDAP, RMDAP and CIPD.
Performing other duties such as portfolio and market reviews as may be assigned by the management of Credit Department. Note that occasional travel may be required.
Key requirements:
Min. 5 years experience within either front office business team or credit department of with a financial institution.
Experience in one of the following products is highly desirable: leveraged/ LBO financing, non-recourse real estate financing, non-recourse fund NAV financing, or fund hedging.
Tertiary degree/ qualification in a related field, e.g. degree in finance and accounting or economics.
Certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst will be helpful and preferred.
Ability to review/ interpret financial statements and review the reasonability of business projections is key.
Advanced profiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) is preferred.
Team player with good listening and communication skills.
