About the Department

The Finance and Corporate Services function manages the financial and administrative needs of the Group to help achieve its business goals.

Group Markets Business Finance

Global Markets (GM) Business Finance team has the primary responsibility for providing strategic planning and performance management support to the GM business to enable strategic decision making and disciplined growth. In addition, the team provides financial control best practice advisory and coordinates on all aspects of finance for the business including accounting standards, regulatory and capital requirements and funds transfer pricing.

About the role

The successful candidate shall act as finance business partner to Global Markets Structuring Business, responsible for the accounting and reporting of the business. The candidate will also be involved in delivering forward looking insights and analysis to influence decision making. The candidate will be required to undertake the review of existing products under the Product Programme for the Global Markets business and ensure overall finance requirements are defined and delivered in new products offered by Global Markets.

The candidate must possess good product, business and operational knowledge of the Global Markets Business/Global Markets Structuring business and be able to leverage the experience to provide an external benchmark view of finance best practices for the business.

Key Responsibilities for the role will include:

1) Financial and Performance management reporting of Global Markets Structuring

  • Provide timely financial performance reports and in-depth financial analysis.
  • Partner with business in strategic planning and performance management, including 5-year plan, target setting, annual budgets and monthly forecast.
  • Partner with business to identify opportunities, business levers and initiatives to deliver financial targets and growth opportunities.
  • Undertake process reviews to ensure robust financial control framework is embedded for the desk.
  • Support enterprise-wide, business-specific as well as finance-related initiatives.
  • Advise financial control best practices that minimize operational risk and enhances efficiency for the business
2) Product Support
  • Support review of new and existing products and bundles, ensuring finance-related risks are appropriately addressed or escalated.
  • Act as single point of contact for downstream financial, regulatory and capital matters with support from appropriate SMEs (Accounting policy, Financial/Regulatory/Capital reporting, Finance System Support, including respective overseas Finance teams)
  • Participate in the project lifecycle of New Product rollout, such as requirements gathering and development, UAT, dress rehearsals.
  • Work with Front Office, Technology and Back Office (Ops, Accounting Policy) to ensure appropriate accounting and reporting for treasury products.
  • Prioritise and manage Change request raised by the team with Finance Coordinator and Technology.
Job Requirements
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience in banking industry, project experience ideally preferred.
  • Degree qualified in Accounting & Finance or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Able to communicate well and collaborate with all levels of the team members.
  • Able to manage ongoing scope changes and unknowns typically associated with project implementation.
  • Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
  • Knowledge of or experience with Murex system.
  • Knowledge of treasury activities covering front office, middle office and back office functions and/or accounting of treasury products including regulatory requirements and latest accounting standards, will be advantageous.
  • Power BI and DAX
