Job Description

MAIN RESPONSIBILITY: Reporting to the Project Engineer, the Backhoe Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the construction. The Backhoe Operator uses mechanical controls to operate the boom, arm and joystick, level off and work the ground.The responsibilities of the Backhoe Operator include, but are not limited to:u Operate the backhoe in a safe and appropriate manner.u Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.u Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill equipment as necessary.u Work with ground personnel in the excavation and installation process of laying pipe on line and grade.u Ensure trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade.u Follow directions of ground crew regarding craning, gravel placement and grading.u Cut grade with minimal time spent on excavating to ensure production is on schedule.u Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.u Be aware of proper rigging of pipe, manhole barrels, etc. and ensure safe work procedures are followed during the lowering of materials into the excavation.u Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the Backhoe.u Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the Backhoe.u Operate other heavy equipment and other construction related duties as required.u Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the companyaEUR(TM)s Code of Ethics.u Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics Safety.u Promote, execute and adhere to the companyaEUR(TM)s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.Company Benefits: Staff Loan, 13th month, Performance Incentive, VL, SL, HMO, Mandatory Benefits.Others1.
