The Badminton Instructor is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating a progressive badminton training programme that develops students' technical proficiency, tactical understanding, sportsmanship, and values. The instructor will work closely with the Teacher-in-Charge to ensure alignment with MOE's CCA objectives and the school's values-based education framework.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Programme Planning & Delivery
Design and implement a developmentally appropriate badminton training programme for students across different skill levels (beginner to school team).
Plan a structured yearly scheme of work that incorporates fundamental skills, game strategies, physical conditioning, and competition preparation.
Incorporate character development, teamwork, and sportsmanship into every session.
Deliver engaging, safe, and inclusive lessons that promote both skill mastery and enjoyment of the sport.
2. Student Development & Assessment
Identify students' strengths and areas for improvement; provide differentiated training approaches.
Prepare students for internal and external competitions (e.g., National School Games, zonal tournaments, friendly matches).
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to students and Teacher-in-Charge.
Mentor student leaders or captains to take on leadership and peer-coaching roles.
3. Collaboration & Communication
Liaise with the Teacher-in-Charge to align session content, competition planning, and student progress tracking.
Communicate effectively with school staff, students, and parents (where applicable) to ensure smooth programme coordination.
Participate in pre-season planning meetings and post-season reviews.
Submit session attendance, evaluation reports, and competition reflections in accordance with school requirements.
4. Risk Management & Safety
Conduct pre-session safety checks on courts, equipment, and player readiness.
Enforce safe playing practices and immediate first-aid responses to injuries.
Maintain discipline and uphold the school's behavioural expectations during all CCA sessions and competitions.
Ensure compliance with school and MOE safety guidelines.

Essential Qualifications:
Possess at least a
Badminton Coaching Certificate (NROC-registered)
or equivalent accreditation.
Valid
Standard First Aid and AED Certification
.
Relevant playing and coaching experience at school, club, or national level.
Preferred Qualifications (Advantageous):
Certified with
Singapore Badminton Association (SBA)
Coaching Certificate (Level 1 or higher).
MOE-registered Instructor (preferred for school CCA deployment).
Experience coaching in a
school-based environment
(primary, secondary, or JC level).
Familiarity with
MOE's CCA Reference Guides
and school values-based education.
