We are looking for an individual who would complement and strengthen our Global Legal Operations Team. The position is based in Bridgestone\'s ChinaAsia Pacific regional HQ (\xe2\x80\x9cBSCAP\xe2\x80\x9d).

The Asst Manager, Global Legal Operations is part of the Global Legal Operations Team, a small, yet dynamic team driving communication and strategic initiatives across Bridgestone\'s Global Law Department. A key responsibility of this role is the planning and implementation of the Law Department\'s mission of serving as a trusted advisor, strategic business partner and transformational leader for Bridgestone. The position supports Bridgestone\'s Global Law Leadership Team (\xe2\x80\x9cGLLT\xe2\x80\x9d) in implementing strategies for, among other items, addressing the company\'s global legal/compliance risks, increasing the quality and accessibility of legal services to Bridgestone\'s businesses worldwide, monitoring and managing legal spend, supporting & improving knowledge management and encouraging and facilitating best practices among regions. The position, which is based in Singapore, reports operationally (solid line) to Manager, Corporate Governance in BSCAP and functionally (dotted line) to Director, Global Legal Operations in the United States.

To perform in this role effectively, candidates should have a solid understanding of how in-house corporate legal departments function, be skilled at delivering a variety of concurrent high-impact, cross-functional projects across cultures, known for working successfully across all levels of an organization, including senior leadership, experienced at driving organizational change. Candidates should be tech savvy, and comfortable handling duties that span a wide range, from administrative to working directly with executive level teammates.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for best practices sharing and fostering relationships across continents, cultures and functions to plan and deliver on strategic initiatives for the Global Law Department.
  • Drive on-budget, on-time outcomes and produce high-quality work products, including but not limited to providing advisory support during project planning and stand-up to managing change and leading/driving projects across their full lifecycles.
  • Support the implementation of global strategies for addressing the company\'s legal/compliance risks, managing and optimizing outside counsel usage, assisting and supporting global legal/compliance training across the region.
  • Drive alignment within the Global Law Department through prioritization, change management and best practices.
  • Serve as a facilitator and consultant to ensure global projects are properly implemented, kicked off, tracked toward success, and ensure follow-up post roll-out throughout the project life.
  • Ensure proper and accurate tracking of global legal budget and appropriate linkage between BSCAP SBU budget and global legal budget where necessary.
  • Coordinate and conduct legal and compliance trainings in the BSCAP Region and Diversified Businesses (\xe2\x80\x9cDB\xe2\x80\x9d), including administrative and operational support.
  • Act as a role model for developing and encouraging use of sharing tools amongst the team (SharePoint, etc.) to ensure effective communication on the global legal agenda to teammates.
  • Help institutionalise legal knowledge by gathering, curating and organising legal work product in the sharing tools and on the global platforms.
  • Support the evaluation, selection and implementation including training of legal technology applications to drive efficiencies, increase productivity and overall cost reduction across the legal function.
  • Work collaboratively with BSCAP & DB Counsels to identify opportunities for changes and improvement, and increased efficiency and effectiveness, in line with the Global Legal agenda.
  • Coordinate exchange programs organized by the Global Legal team from and to the BSCAP Region.
  • Coordinate the global onboarding and offboarding process for BSCAP & DB Legal teammates.
  • Manage the English Proficiency Program and the new hire testing for BSCAP Legal teammates.
  • Support and manage the tracking of significant matters and issues in the region to Compile the BSCAP contribution to the Quarterly Global Report to the GLLT.
  • Implement, support, improve and maintain a central repository of policies, documents, templates etc for effective Knowledge Management in BSCAP, DB, and global.
  • Support and manage the tracking of significant matters and issues in the region for global reporting purposes
  • Coordinate, collate and deal with reporting requirements for the Global Law Department.
  • Support the roll out and implementation of Compliance related policies particularly in DB.
  • Management of the region\'s panel of law firms, negotiate rates & retainer fees, manage law firm invoicing and billing, working with the other regions on engagement practices and synergies where possible.
  • Provide training to BSCAP and DB business teammates on certain legal technology (e.g., contract management system).
  • Support any other operational matter for the Global Law Department as may be instructed.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in legal operations in an in-house legal department or related functions, preferably with a Bachelor Degree in Legal or related discipline.
  • Experience with business transformation and change management.
  • Strong program and project management skills.
  • Experience supporting or leading cross-cultural initiatives across the project lifecycle and supporting implementation of multiple workstream activities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Knowledge of an Asian language a plus.
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication and active listening skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Tools.
  • Experience with implementing or knowledge of legal technology.
  • Ability to take a vision and make it come to life by getting buy-in and executing a project plan from design to implementation.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
  • Demonstrate a mindset focused on tactical/process improvement and business problem solving.
  • Reputation for developing strong relationships to drive change and deliver results.
  • Able to facilitate group working sessions to drive towards outcomes.
  • Ability to lead, as well as be part of, a project team by taking a consultative approach to design and drive solutions through influence within the Global Department.
