The opportunity

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to assume a leadership position within the Asia Business Development team for TMT sector.

Specific duties will include:

  • Representing the Asia TMT team within the Asia BD Leadership team
  • Management of TMT BD budgets within Asia
Business planning and implementation:
  • Play a leading role in the formulation and implementation of TMT sector area business development plans
  • Help embed a cross-practice, client-oriented approach to new business, working in conjunction with relevant members of the global BD team and other key stakeholders
  • Help drive firm-wide or regional BD TMT initiatives within the Asia practice as appropriate
Pitches, proposals and tender submissions:
  • Manage the preparation of regional TMT pitches and proposals, working with partners and legal teams on pitch strategy and approach
  • Help develop strong key selling messages for the regional TMT sector, to be deployed consistently in pitches and submissions
  • Monitor the updating and maintaining of regional pitch support material for the TMT practice group, including credentials, pitch templates and CVs
Client development:
  • Working with the Global TMT Global Practice Lead and Senior Business Development Managers in Asia to support the implementation of TMT client development plans and help ensure that events and other marketing activities are undertaken in a highly targeted way
  • Support the implementation of the global Integrated Client Programme, including potentially taking CRM responsibility for one or more TMT clients
  • Support the firm\'s global Client Listening programme, including conducting face-to-face client reviews as appropriate
Reputation, brand and profile:
  • Work with the Asia Communications team on TMT sector media and PR opportunities for the Asia practice
  • Prepare legal directory and award submissions for the regional TMT sector as required. This will involve an Asia regional submission and standalone TMT submissions in multiple jurisdictions
Management of information and projects:
  • Contribute ideas to improving processes and systems within the regional TMT team and take responsibility for such projects as appropriate
Relationship building and connection:
  • Develop strong relationships with the partners and lawyers in the TMT sector across the Asian offices
  • Develop strong relationships across the Asia and wider global BD team, in order that you can connect your TMT sector with the wider network
  • Play an active part in mentoring and supporting junior members of the BD team in relation to TMT work in Asia
Skills, experience and qualifications
  • Appropriate undergraduate/postgraduate degree qualification(s)
  • At least six years\' experience working in a BD role in a law firm or other professional services environment
  • Knowledge of the Asian legal market desirable
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a broader team
  • Confidence in dealing with partners and senior management
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload under pressure
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Proven ability to establish professional credibility
  • Excellent service delivery skills and high level of responsiveness
  • A sense of humour

This could be as one of our business development professionals, coaching partners on relationship building, or building our brand as one of our marketing, design or events professionals.
