Role Responsibilities
The role is a key position in the Credit Markets COO team with involvement in all aspects of business management and project management initiatives. The successful applicant will

  • Provide business support as part of COO to the various Global Heads under Credit Markets and Head of Sustainable Finance by assisting in developing and implementing business strategy and help facilitate business by removing blockages.
  • Play a key role in providing overall governance of the Credit businesses to ensure compliance with all key governance requirements, including control and risk reporting via the Operational Risk Framework; and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Play a key role in establishing an ESG Governance framework and strategic developments in ESG space
Strategy
  • To support business in various strategic Credit Markets initiatives.
  • To assess impact to the Business from external and internal developments in the rapidly evolving ESG space.
  • To support the Business in contributing to the Bank’s interim and long-term Net Zero targets.
  • To liaise with Sustainable Finance, Industries and other key stakeholders in formulating a unified approach while dealing with strategic developments in ESG and Net-Zero space.
  • To understand and enable CCIB’s ‘Originate and Distribute’ Strategy from COO Office perspective.
  • To be able to support business head/frontline staff to enable best in class Credit Markets franchise within footprint and grow revenues.
  • Provide management and represent Credit Markets interest across multi-functional project teams including relevant business and COO teams, technology, legal, compliance, risk, and TPRM for various projects.
Business
  • To assist in driving business and operational efficiencies via technological innovations with the Credit Markets COO team.
  • To assist in implementation for of various regulatory or structural change driven projects.
  • To assist in implementing tactical and strategic projects aimed at operationalizing the Bank’s 2030 Net Zero targets.
  • To work closely with the Heads of Credit Markets and Management Teams, providing support in all aspects of business development including internal marketing, expanding distribution, facilitating synergies among various products.
  • To assist with MIS requests and work with Finance on reporting improvements.
  • To support and manage the tools required by the business to perform their role.
Processes
  • To aid business and functions in making processes simpler, faster and better.
  • With the Credit Markets COO, continue to review front office processes to ensure efficiencies and adherence to controls, policies and procedures.
  • Support the development and utilisation of the bank’s platform under Client Engagement and Effectiveness for the business to enable operational efficiencies and streamlining deal workflows.
People and Talent
  • Aid development of best practices in execution, controls and risk management for Credit Markets transactions by training and communications to global execution teams.
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
Risk Management
  • Assist the Credit Markets COO to ensure Operational Risk Framework is relevant and up-to-date.
  • Assist in the oversight of global pipelines, forecasts and P&L, underwriting portfolios and valuations / RWA for the business head, and actively engage in senior discussions to manage the same.
  • Assist in identifying impact to the Business process universe due to existing and new ESG-related processes.
Governance
  • Together with the Credit Markets COO, act as the primary point of contact for the development of processes, procedures and control for Credit Markets.
  • Assist Credit Markets and risk control owners to manage the control environment within the business and ensuring compliance with the governance framework.
  • Assist in collating and reporting key performance indicators for the ESG-related businesses to the Business governance forums.
  • To facilitate the internal governance of our transactions through our secretariat lens for DCC and ESG, UW reporting and other matrix reporting as required.
Technology Initiatives
  • To support Credit Market’s strategic technology initiative [CredX] towards building of end-to-end workflow to support business.
  • Engage with Business, Process owners and Risk Framework Owner on an on-going basis and be able to drive the technology teams on build and delivery.
  • Ability to think literally and look for opportunities to simplify process and enhance controls as part of design.
  • Be part of Tech refinement forums, involve in workshop, support with prioritization and active involvement in design and solutioning.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 4+ years of experience in Banking / Financial Services.
  • Knowledge of FM Credit products such as Loans, Bonds with an understanding of ESG product offerings
  • Prior Operational Risk/Governance experience within Financial Markets
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written, able to deliver strong outputs for FM and Group management.
  • Good interpersonal, senior stakeholder management skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Strategic mindset with strong problem solving and good common sense / logical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and take the initiative.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to prioritise, whilst working on tight timeframes.
  • Able to multitask and must be willing to work on topics of little previous exposure.
