Job Description

We are looking for a Marketing and Communications Casual Staff who is passionate about nature and is keen in educating and increasing public interest in Singapore's biodiversity and natural history. He/she will assist in thinking of We are looking for a Marketing and Communications Casual Staff who is passionate about nature and is keen in educating and increasing public interest in Singapore's biodiversity and natural history. He/she will assist in thinking of ways to attract visitors to Singapore's only natural history museum and in maintaining the museum's online presence in Singapore and in the region. As our Marketing and Communications Casual Staff, he/she will primarily assist with content creation for social media, covering stories for the Museum's news blog and translating scientific writing for layman reading and in an engaging manner. The candidate will also keep track of biodiversity news in Singapore and in the Southeast Asian region, and will also be involved in curating or producing communication collaterals where needed. 1. Produce multi-media content for the Museum's social media channels and blog: o Assist in publicising, documenting, taking photographs and IG/FB Stories of the museum's events and exhibitions, educational programmes, research projects, fieldtrips, and collections etc. o Design publicity materials for the Museum's announcements and programmes etc. o Cover stories for the Museum's news blog which will include (but not limited to) interviewing museum staff and/or research visitors, events or research highlights o He/she will learn scientific communication and social media publicity skills, and have the opportunity to plan and come up with their own social media content (subject to approval and existing workload). 2. Keep track and archive biodiversity news in Singapore and in the Southeast Asia region for the museum's news archive 3. Assist in the curating or designing communication collaterals where needed which can range from brochures to basic flyers. 4. Assist in updating and maintaining the Museum's website where needed 5. Any other duties assigned. Qualifications Qualifications: Diploma / Undergraduate / Bachelor's Degree / Master's Degree Minimum requirements: . Candidate must have a strong command of the English language and is proficient in writing with a keen and creative mind . Display a keen interest in natural history, zoology, science communication and digital marketing . Possess good design skills with experience in Canva and/or Adobe suite (Photoshop and Illustrator) . Possess good organisational skills and is detail-oriented . Possess basic photography and photo-editing skills . Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal . Must be able to work independently and in a team . Open to working in both indoors and outdoors . Responsible for his/her own learning process and development. Bonus: . Candidate is studying/has studied Environmental Science, Life Science, Communications or Geography . Prior experience in social media management, science communication, publicity and/or copywriting is an advantage.
