Job Description


We are looking for a Central Agency Manager SEA to join Wilhelmsen Port Services. In Wilhelmsen Port Services, we provide our customers with peace of mind while we handle their cargo, their vessels and their crew. In more than 2000 ports all over the world, we handle 75,000 port calls per year, which means that every 7 minutes, anywhere around the world, we send a ship safely out to sea again to fulfil its purpose. We have a brand-new growth strategy and ambitious plans to shape our customers’ port experience of tomorrow by expanding our position in the port value chain. In that high-energy environment, we need someone to provide support to our president and senior management team. The Central Agency Manager SEA will report to the Regional Vice President. The position works closely with Port Operations, the Commercial team, the Ships Agency Credit Management and Procurement functions. Who are you : You are required to implement and manage agreed centralization initiative within the area. You must understand business with contractual customers and their requirements, including coaching/training the team in handling of these customers. You need to oversee the team and ensure the efficient handling of SASA global port calls and all port calls entering the area. You must proactively propose improvements for Husbandry procedures for the area. Required experience and skills :

  • Maritime background or experience in similar position, with at least 5 years of working experience.
  • Experience from the marine industry, preferably ships agency operations.
  • Proven people management skills with ability to lead and inspire teams.
  • Solid change management and implementation skills.
  • Business process skills and understanding of value chain impact.
  • Commercial understanding of customers’ business and needs.
  • Excellent communciation skills.
  • Able to work independently and systematically.
  • Able to meet deadlines through good time management and allocation of priorities.
  • Computer literate.
What you will be doing :
  • Implement and manage the globally agreed centralization initiative within the area.
  • Ensure consistent application of Husbandry procedures for the area.
  • Conduct fact-finding and document/ refine the Husbandry procedures of ports (if necessary).
  • Develop and share best practices with other CA centres.
  • Ensure smooth communication and operational workflow with CA centrers globally for coordination of port calls.
  • Manage and develop the Central Agency team, including evaluating the performance of the team, provide feedback, directions, support, and coaching on a regular basis.
  • Ensure optimal resource set-up and competence, and work with the team on process compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the CA Centre complies with Ships Agency Standard Operating Procedures & Supplier Governance standard, including correct use of the operating systems (WASP, SMS, and Virtual Agent whenever applicable).
  • Suggest process improvements based on efficiency, productivity, or cost effectiveness gains.
  • Ensure timely processing and closing of DA’s.
  • Follow up complaints/non-compliances through Improvement Potential system
  • Attend business review meetings with customers as required and interact with the relevant KAMs.
