Our client designs, develops and operates data centers on global scale. They have a significant and growing presence in Asia Pacific, headquartered in Singapore.

The Mandate:
  • Given the levels of growth and investment in APAC, our client is looking to hire a broad and experienced CFO to lead finance and accounting across the APAC region.
  • This role will report to the Group CFO, based in the US.
  • Holding a senior and influential position, the successful candidate will be expected to own and drive the financial performance of the business to facilitate future international growth through strategic financing solutions such as capital raising.
  • While the APAC finance team can leverage accounting platforms from the US, the incoming CFO will also need to build a finance function from the ground up which can support and facilitate this growth at a fast pace, bringing strong financial discipline and rigour.
Responsibilities:
  • Partner with CEO and COO to drive prudent growth in the business (not a risk taker, not risk adverse but willing to take a position).
  • Interact with Banks and Private Equity investors to raise capital and negotiate to ensure the best commercial terms.
  • Lead the Finance organization as a strategic thinker (high IQ), someone with high intellectual curiosity, who may not know all the answers but is willing to ask questions (good and bad) in an effort to provide thought leadership.
  • Manage a finance team as one unit despite teammates located in various locations (management experience of a team).
  • Work with talented Finance Team professionals to:
  • Budget and Forecast with appropriate levels of fidelity (bottoms up and top down).
  • Report, Own and Drive Financial performance of business.
  • Manage complexity of Construction spend given different rules/regulations/requirements across the continent.
  • Manage complexity of financial reporting and money flows across the continent.
  • Drive strategic financing solutions to facilitate business growth (i.e. capital raising - debt and equity).
Review and provide perspective on corporate development efforts (i.e. new market investment and customer pricing models).

Key Requirements:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA preferred) with a breadth of finance experience across financial control, commercial finance and finance change as well as experience managing a finance function across APAC.
  • Prior experience raising capital is essential with the ability to present with confidence to investors.
  • This individual will be a strong leader who is able to be hands on but also strategic, supporting the complexity and scale of the business as it continues to expand, particularly around best practice, people and process change.
  • Empathetic and proactive leader who is a team player and can coach, mentor and develop the team as well as foster a positive culture. Must have experience managing a multi-site team and be willing to take time and listen to feedback from across the organization.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and will be expected to influence leaders across the business as well as present to investors. They must therefore bring strong stakeholder management skills and demonstrate a high degree of executive presence.
  • Strong cultural fit; humble, ethical, goal oriented, insatiable work ethic and dynamic.
  • Must be able to operate in an extremely fast paced environment with experience driving significant business growth previously.
  • Must be an independent thinker, entrepreneurial and someone who takes ownership.
  • Prior experience in data centers is beneficial but not essential. Previous exposure to the real estate or construction industries is also useful.
