About the role We are now recruiting for a Charterer to join our global chartering team in Singapore! This role will support the Chartering team and collaborate closely with various commodity groups to deliver safe, timely and efficient shipping services while navigating through a dynamic shipping market Reporting to the Chartering Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Cost effective freight contracting in the spot and term physical markets (predominantly dry bulk) in strict compliance with Rio Tinto standards and procedures.
  • Regular engagement with product group scheduling teams to optimize supply chain value and resolve issues.
  • Manage contract performance, vessel nominations and timely upload of contracts into database.
  • Building effective relationships with external shipowners and broker network to identity risk and opportunities and contribute to Chartering team strategy.
  • Collaborate with Vessel Operations and Vetting teams for continuous improvement of crew welfare, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards across the fleet.
  • Identify, support and lead implementation of value initiatives and develop annual performance metrics.
  • Weekly reporting of market updates and consolidated desk activity.
About you To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Finance/Economics/Business/Maritime or related field.
  • Experience in a Trading/Commercial role is preferred.
  • Clear communication and presentation abilities.
  • Data analytics skills using Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
  • Independent, driven, and curious to learn.
