The Fixed Income Financing (FIF) Product Control team is responsible for supporting the FIF business. The business acts as a market maker, providing secured financing or collateral to clients across a diverse client base including Banks, Broker/ Dealers, Hedge Funds, Asset Managers, etc. The desk also provides a critical internal utility function in managing funding and liquidity by funding long and short positions for the Investment Bank's Fixed Income cash desks. The business has a product offering including sovereign repos, corporate repo, MBS's, structured financings (>1 yr), and emerging markets financing which it overs in all regions across the globe.

The APAC footprint is growing and requires a dedicated Product Controller to support the business and liaise regularly with the desk on all matters under the purview of Finance. The Product control team is responsible for daily P&L and month end P&L production as well as preparation of month end and quarter end regulatory submissions and Balance Sheet analysis. The team is also expected to provide advisory support to the business and will be a main contact for queries about the business from stakeholders such as Audit, financial control, VCG, risk, trade support and the business manager.

The candidate will be responsible for assisting the team in covering the following functions:

  • P&L and Risk production and controls for the desk on a daily basis
  • Understanding and explaining P&L and Risk drivers for weekly and monthly commentary
  • Primary face to the business for balance sheet reporting, providing transaction support / guidance and acting as liaison with Accounting Policy etc.
  • Being APAC front office's main point of contact within PC for issues and ad hoc reports
  • To build in-depth knowledge of the fixed income system feeds to the downstream aggregators
  • Pro-actively identify the control risks and manage the subsequent project plans to achieve resolution.
  • Ensure the integrity of the business financial results are maintained under US and local regulatory requirements
  • Month end - Liaising with Financial control to reconcile P&L Aggregator to general ledger, review of reserve adjustments and other month end adjustments.
  • Produce submissions for Regulatory and External Reporting
  • Understanding of key accounting concepts in order to help drive business decisions such as FIN41 netting, as well as accounting for repo products, loans and securities.

Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Minimum of bachelors degree or equivalent;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Product Control, Financial Control, Accounting or Finance related roles is required;
  • Good financial product knowledge - fixed income products would be an advantage;
  • Ability to work effectively, meet challenging deadlines and to work under pressure;
  • Analytical and quantitative aptitude - ability to identify and solve problems independently;
  • Strong communicator who can be point of contact with the desk and escalate issues internally;
  • Strong technical skills - Advanced Excel, understanding basic coding / VBA an advantage;
  • Proactive and willing to accept responsibility;
  • Controls focused and strong attention to detail is key.
