This reporter will be part of the global Climate & Environment Team covering daily news and emerging trends on climate change and the environment. A key focus for this team is to bring scientific and economic understanding to stories about everything from extreme weather and climate research to global business and diplomacy. The Asia Climate & Environment Correspondent will need to be monitoring for news on the horizon, while also developing longer-term initiative projects. They will be building sources and knowledge constantly in both environmental science and policy, and will work closely with Visuals to develop coverage in all formats. A collaborative nature is a must. When environmental news is breaking in the world, this reporter will be ready to jump in with smart stories that help explain the environmental or climate connections. Ideally, they will have a record of covering environmental issues, as well as international or economic news and accountability stories. They will be able to translate and humanize technical information to grab a general audience. Candidates can be based in any locations in Asia. About the Role As a Climate & Environment Correspondent in Asia, you will: Monitor and report on climate and environmental news, including the latest in important scientific research and discovery. Generate feature ideas and work on initiative projects around climate and environment issues, translating and humanizing technical information to grab a general audience. Have day-to-day collaboration with Climate & Environment Team colleagues, and frequent work with non-specialist correspondents in all formats around the world. About You To be our Asia-based Climate & Environment Correspondent , you will likely have: Experience reporting on climate change and other environmental issues, and familiarity with science and economics. The ability to write quickly and accurately under deadline pressure. Demonstrated ability to produce explanatory or distinctive long-form stories. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with a variety of collaborators. Comfort with prioritizing tasks and juggling many projects at once, with varying deadlines.
