Job Description


UWCSEA Dover has a vacancy for an Administrator and Climbing Coach who is experienced in coaching and administrating a variety of developmental and advanced climbing programmes for youths and students (K2 to G12). This role will involve both office-based work, interpersonal liaison as well as in-person coaching roles.

Main Responsibilities

Administrative:

  • Work with Head of Climbing to administer all seasonal Phoenix Climbing Programmes, competitive squads, Community and Holiday Activities Programmes registrations, marketing, payments, refunds, inquiries and associated tasks.
  • Liaise with students and parents as required to respond to programme attendance, allocation, changes and other inquiries as required.
  • Communicate with other UWCSEA staff and the sports and activities community at large through email, a newsletter, website & other Google platforms as required.
  • Complete at least 20 hours of administrative work across the following recommended hours:
  • Monday to Friday
9:30 am to 12:30 pm (Lunch break is from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm) * Saturday

9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Coaching:
  • Perform at least 10 hours of active contact weekly (not including preparation or planning time) as a Lead Coach or in support of other Phoenix coaching team members.
  • Active coaching time may be allocated to Development and/or Advanced Phoenix Climbing Programmes as a Co-Lead Coach or Lead Coach, or the competitive Phoenix Climbing squad as an Assistant or Co-Lead Coach.
  • Support PE climbing classes as Lead Coach or co-conduct with UWCSEA PE staff.
  • Deliver 7 - 8 weeks of designated Holiday Activity programmes over the school term holidays .
  • Collaborate with other Phoenix climbing coaches to prepare, plan and deliver safe, meaningful and impactful session plans.
  • Monitor attendance/progress of programme participants.
  • Work with the Phoenix coaching team to share and build coaching knowledge and skills.
Operational:
  • Ensure the climbing activity spaces are safe, secure and presentable at all times (with reference to the UWCSEA Dover climbing SOPs).
  • Work with the Head of Climbing to monitor equipment maintenance, storage and facility upkeep.
  • Maintain equipment checklists and report any concerns or anomalies to the Head of Climbing.
  • Work with the Head of Climbing and together with the other Phoenix Climbing coaches to plan, organise and execute UWCSEA\xe2\x80\x99s annual SEASAC climbing event for local and international participants.
Person Specifications
  • Qualified climbing coach with excellent experience in coaching children (K-12)
  • Holds a current SNCS Sport Climbing (Level 2) qualification
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Trained in standard First Aid
  • Trained in Child Safeguarding
  • Proficient in the use Microsoft and Google Suites, and digital scorekeeping systems
Experience:
  • 3 years of relevant experience
Skills & Qualities:
  • Excellent communication skills, very proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Possess an appropriate understanding of age-appropriate Long-Term Athlete Development training approaches, College skill & qualities, be competent in climbing technical knowledge, and have a healthy view on long-term success.
  • Possess strong organisational skills, a commitment to a holistic education and to the mission of the school. Be able to communicate confidently and well with International School parents and staff.
  • Have an ability to develop relationships based on mutual respect, be a reliable team-player with a strong aptitude for supporting and collaborating with other team members.
  • Be confident in using social media and digital media platforms responsibly, as a tool to promote learning and communicating effectively.
  • Be able and willing to work with children of different age groups
