Job Description

Job PurposeRailway infrastructure such as tracks, tunnels and viaducts are inspected and monitored routinely to ensure safe use. Increasingly, the use of inspection technologies such as photo imaging systems, laser and ultrasonic scan systems are used alongside more traditional track visual inspections methods to determine the condition of the infrastructure.Railway buildings and facilities are also equipped with smart environmental control, pump monitoring, and lift control systems. These building conditioning monitoring systems could be OEM proprietary systems or 3rd party solutions.The job of the condition monitoring engineer is to: 1) understand the characteristics of the monitoring system and develop / refine condition thresholds to trigger maintenance actions for the system under their charge; and 2) be a technology scout to identify industry leading condition monitoring technologies to influence and transform maintenance regime.ResponsibilitiesThe Condition Monitoring Engineer is responsible for:

• Understand system inspection characteristics and interpret inspection data
• Alert and provide infrastructure maintainers with defect severity prioritization so that timely intervention can be carried out to persevere the safe and reliability operation of the train network
• Working with the departments data analyst and engineer to integrate the data stream from the monitoring system into the centralized data warehouse
• Scout for relevant and proven condition monitoring technologies that can lead to enhance safety and/or reduce maintenance effort

Qualifications & Work Experience

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Prior work experience as maintenance engineer is a bonus

Skills

• Proficient in Excel
• Proficient in Python and its data science packages
• Proficient in Power BI
• Having Microsoft Azure Data Engineer certification & Microsoft Azure Data Scientist certification will be a bonus
