Argus is an independent organisation with almost 1,200 staff globally. We are headquartered in London and have 28 offices in the world's principal commodity trading and production centres. Argus produces price assessments and analysis of international energy and other commodity markets and offers bespoke consulting services and industry-leading conferences. What will you be doing We are looking for an enthusiastic Conference Operations Executive who will play an essential role in the operations management of our extensive portfolio of events. You will deliver a world-class conference experience to our clients through innovative conference set-ups and networking events, exemplary customer service and excellent spending management. In addition, you will exhibit a dedicated commitment to excellence in the run-up to events and in-person and/or virtual delivery of a best-in-class conference experience. Given the unprecedented changes to the events industry and digital response to virtual and hybrid events, we are looking for an individual who is passionate and has an affinity to tech! You will have proven experience in using a variety of the conference technology tool kit (registration systems, networking, engagement apps, etc.) and have a genuine interest in new evolving platforms and embracing the opportunities and benefits the digital offering provides the customer. Furthermore, you will be attentive to changing customer behaviour and expectations and will contribute ideas and solutions to improve virtual and hybrid customer engagement and experience. This is an excellent role for someone looking to develop their career in conference operations with the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment, working on global projects (with the ability to travel) and being part of the digital transformation of events at Argus. Keep client experience and excellence in event delivery at the forefront of your delivery. Keep track of budgets across your portfolio and make decisions on costs to meet profit targets while maintaining high-quality delegate experience and the reputation of the Argus brand. Accurately track forecasts and profitability results and reports, including performance against capacity and targets for exhibitors, sponsors, meeting rooms and attendees. Alert and make recommendations when results need to be on time. Conduct basic venue searches. Manage speakers, sponsors and partners once they have signed up for the event, liaising closely with the Conference Producer and Sponsorship Manager Liaise with the Conference Producer and Marketing Manager to produce a delegate communication plan, sending out regular updates to engage registered delegates in the forthcoming events. Keep website updated with current event details, including venue and accommodation details and speaker and sponsor profiles check that all pricing and registration information is accurate. Set up digital platforms for virtual/hybrid conferences, managed upload of programme, speaker and sponsor content and delegated onboarding communication. Ownership of decisions relevant to logistics: supplier choices leading the on-site team in event running from start to finish ensuring logistics are coordinated, and the on-site experience runs smoothly to meet expectations. Organise and produce conference set design, signage, workbooks, networking app and virtual conference platform. Research new technologies and conference and exhibition formats to implement the latest conference industry offerings to evolve and improve the delegate experience and enhance the Argus brand. What we're looking for in you: Minimum 1- 2 years of experience in logistics coordination for business events and conferences. Experience working in a commercial environment and being accountable for managing budgets would be beneficial. Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills Experience in researching and analysing event data and recommending improvements Excellent IT skills, including Excel spreadsheets Passionate about events, contributing to a positive and energised culture Creative coming up with innovative and fresh ideas for conferences and exhibition Deadline-focused with strong attention to detail - the ability to multi-task and deliver projects on time while under pressure Flexibility to manage extended hours as needed to meet event deadlines Able to work independently whilst also engaging and collaborating in line with the Argus values: Excellence, Integrity, Partnership, and Inclusivity.
