Job Description

What the role is:

HTX is looking for a suitable candidate with passion for fire safety and possesses fire safety engineering knowledge to support MHA in enhancing fire safety standards in Singapore. This is done through the provision of fire safety engineering related consultations, waiver applications, plan audits, fire and evacuation modelling studies and administration of the scheme for fire safety engineers. The job-holder will report to the Senior Assistant Director of the Fire Safety Department in SCDF.

What you will be working on:

Responsibilities The job-holder will be responsible for the following: \xe2\x80\xa2 To review and process plans and reports involving fire safety engineering designs proposed by Fire Safety Engineers. \xe2\x80\xa2 To process waiver applications within the target response time. This includes presenting the waiver issues to the Waiver Committee and follow up on the outcome. \xe2\x80\xa2 To assist Branch Head in the annual registration of fire safety engineers, conduct of workshops with fire safety engineers and administration of the continuous professional development program for fire safety engineers. \xe2\x80\xa2 To assist Branch Head in the review of fire safety engineering codes and standards. \xe2\x80\xa2 To ensure effective provision of consultation services to Qualified Persons and Fire Safety Engineers on all fire safety matters within stipulated timeframe. \xe2\x80\xa2 To ensure that performance/output indicators for the plans approval, processing of waiver applications, auditing of plans and consultation process are met. \xe2\x80\xa2 To provide sound advice to department staff on all fire safety engineering related matters. \xe2\x80\xa2 To conduct fire and evacuation modelling for verification and validation of fire safety requirements. \xe2\x80\xa2 To provide lectures at conferences/seminars/courses to both SCDF staff and building professionals on all fire safety issues.

What we are looking for:

Job requirements \xe2\x80\xa2 Degree in fire safety engineering. \xe2\x80\xa2 At least 5 years experience in fire safety engineering design. \xe2\x80\xa2 Knowledge in fire safety engineering modelling softwares, such as FDS and STEPS. \xe2\x80\xa2 Knowledge of the local Fire Code and Codes of Practices. \xe2\x80\xa2 Team player with strong attention to details. * All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
