Job Description

What the role is:

The jobholder will play a key role in enhancing CBRNE Centre of Expertise\'s capabilities in biological threat surveillance and detection. He/she will work alongside a team of CBRNE scientists to research, develop and validate new techniques and technologies for in-house development and Home Team Departments.

What you will be working on:

• Perform laboratory analysis and R&D studies for in-house development and Home Team Departments. \xe2\x80\xa2 Conduct horizon scanning to identify novel or useful technologies to develop game-changing solutions or new capabilities. \xe2\x80\xa2 Collaborate with counterparts, industry, and academia, both locally and internationally to develop, innovate new methodologies, practices, or products. \xe2\x80\xa2 Planning and resource management to ensure effective and efficient delivery of project milestones. \xe2\x80\xa2 Involved in external discussion with research collaborators/vendors on project implementation schedule and deliverables.

What we are looking for:

• Applicants shall minimally have a Degree/ Master in Chemistry or a related science discipline, and preferably a minimum of five (05) years of relevant industry or research experience. \xe2\x80\xa2 Knowledge and experience in analytical chemistry, synthetic chemistry and computation analysis would be an advantage. \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience with chemistry software and programming language would be an advantage. \xe2\x80\xa2 Proactive, meticulous, good laboratory techniques and knowledge \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to communicate scientific and technical information in an easily understood way. \xe2\x80\xa2 Attentive to details in reviewing test results and reports. \xe2\x80\xa2 Effective communication skills and good problem solving skills \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively to ensure that deliverables are met in a timely manner. \xe2\x80\xa2 An independent worker as well as a strong team player who can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and technology providers. \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong sense of responsibility, self-motivated, high initiative, meticulous and possess strong critical thinking skills. \xe2\x80\xa2 Open to experiment and use of Machine learning, AI Algo and coding in the course of work \xe2\x80\xa2 Possess strong written, technical, and oral communication skills. \xe2\x80\xa2 Able to respond to operational needs outside office hours, as and when required. All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
