Job Description


The Consumer Bank Branch Oversight Function (BOF) Head supports the Consumer Business Risk & Control \xe2\x80\x93 Control Assurance Head and Retail Bank Head in managing and mitigating operational risks and control for the Consumer Branch Network as a First Line of Defense function.


  • The BOF Head has the responsibility in administering a robust Branch Control and Oversight Program that enables effective risk and control management by the Consumer Branch Network.
  • Oversee the Branch operational activities adhere to the established control processes; monitor Branch Control Risk indicators to ensure performance within acceptable threshold levels; and conduct regular branch oversight inspections to assess effectiveness of the branch control environment.
  • Perform self-assessment testing on critical control activities for branch operations, sales and service through the Manager Control Assessment framework and methodology.
  • Conduct Branch Control governance forums and update stakeholders from the business and control partners on the control assurance of branch services and operation processes. Escalate key control gaps and review adequacy and effectiveness of corrective actions taken by business to address preventive controls that comprehensively mitigate risk of re-occurrence.
  • Coordinate and ensure existing and new changes to the Consumer Bank Retail Branch Control Standards and Regional Consumer Control Procedures are disseminated to business and operation stakeholders for gap analysis and timely implementation of control process to meet the updated requirements.
  • Support the branch network on gap analysis, assessment of legal and regulatory requirements with Legal and Compliance stakeholders, and in the development of local procedures to meet global policy requirements and regional standards, including any corresponding changes to review standards under the Branch Oversight Inspection program.
  • Support the branch network on branch-related reviews and audits on risk and control consultation and review of response to audit findings.
  • Identify improvement area and training gaps and provide guidance to staff of the branch network, sales and service teams on risk and control concepts, processes, and tools.
  • Develop talent and build competence among BOF review team and ensure adequate back-ups to meet datelines for work deliverables engaging with staff on guidance and career development.
  • Promptly escalate issues regarding, but not limited to, people, processes and products and resolve in a timely fashion.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum eight years in the Financial Services industry, and minimum three years in Control Management-related role, preferably with experience in Consumer bank branch services and transaction services
  • Strong understanding of Consumer branch processes and products.
  • Ability to lead and drive controls across functions irrespective of reporting lines
  • Ability to build rapport and work closely with key country and regional stakeholders and partners within and outside the country branch network.
  • Up-to-date understanding of key risk and control concepts, tools and trends relating to risk identification, rating and prioritization, mitigation, and reporting
  • Proven people and team management skills
  • Risk-based thinking and analytical mindset
  • Self-starter who can work independently
  • Ability to multi-task and manage concurrent projects and deliverables
  • Proficient in the use of basic Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Education:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s/University degree in banking, business or related disciplines
