Job ObjectivesThis role is responsible for managing our content marketing operation and the overall success of our content marketing initiatives. They guide content marketing strategy, facilitate ongoing content planning, manage day-to-day content creation, editing and promotion, and report on the results of each content marketing initiative.Principal Duties and Responsibilities Perform industry, market, demographic, and competitor research, which could include:o Analyzing competitors' content, messaging and distribution tacticso Identifying target audiences and their key demographics, interests, and online behavioro Surveying current customers to understand and validate strategic and tactical decisions (template below)o Facilitating internal stakeholder interviews to identify business objectives and subject matter expertso Keyword researcho Research to define appropriate subjects and topicso Looking into content tools and software that can help them to create and promote content Work with marketing managers, product and business leaders to create content marketing plans, which include:o Specific, measurable goals with a timeline in which to meet themo A general budget with estimates for staff, creative resources and paid promotiono The types of content that will be created (ex: blog posts, ebooks, white papers, infographics, etc.)o The topics that will be covered (and why)o The channels that will be used to distribute the contento A plan for paid promotion of the contento An execution plan outlining the publishing frequency, production workflow (creation, reviews and approvals) and ongoing maintenance of the content Create and maintain editorial/content calendaro Plot deadlines for creation, publication, and promotion on a content calendar so the whole marketing team can see at a glance what content is planned for the coming weeks and months.o Align content publication and promotion with key dates that are important to our business and other marketing campaigns. Dictate production workflows and oversee a team of creatives. Besides researching and writing content, source photographs and illustrations to accompany written content, format content, and add meta information. Work with the digital marketing manager to make sure that web searchers can find our content and that it appears on the first page of Google and other search engines.Maintain a consistent brand voice in our content by creating a style guide. The style guide might include information about brand personality, writing styles, punctuation and grammar preferences, SEO best practices, and guidelines to aid in selecting images. Ensure all contents conform to the style guide before release. Ensure our content gets published and promoted to the right people in the right place at the right time.
Continuously monitor and analyze published content so we can see what's working and what isn't working. Monitor engagement with our published content, reply to comments and questions, and note suggestions for future content.Job Specifications
