Job Description


This position reports to the Director of Corporate Marketing and Branding and is responsible for producing content and contributing to JCUS\' media and content strategy as well as enhancing JCU\'s public profile and image.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize and develop effective creative copy that aligns with JCU brand vision and brand guidelines.
  • Write high-quality content/news articles/stories to increase the brand awareness of the university of its activity, events, community involvements, partners, and alumni while aligning it to the JCU brand\'s tone and communication style
  • Provide high-quality content writing to promote university research and its research arm.
  • Lead, manage and coordinate the effective planning and scheduling of content deliverables with internal and external stakeholders and work in a timely and efficient manner to produce a high volume of content.
  • Produce impactful, shareable cross-platform content that the audience connects with by acting as brand guardian, ensuring the quality and timeliness, and by reviewing them according to publishing requirements.
  • To form and maintain effective working relationship with internal and external stakeholders
  • Create SEO optimised compelling content in a variety of formats that engages target audience
  • Contribute to the university\'s various digital and communication initiatives, including but not limited to videos, microsites, etc.
  • Plan, create, distribute, and publish content via channels such as social media, blogs, websites, to reach the target audience and increase brand awareness, engagement, and loyalty.
  • To communicate and provide regular content JCUA communication\'s team for the university\'s regular newsletters and to identify potential joint-release research stories.
  • Pitch content ideas to the media and manage media enquiries.
  • Provide communication and copywriting support within the organisation for all media types and contribute to university projects ie. podcast, broadcast.
  • Determine the contents gap and commission/produce additional content with Director Corporate Marketing and Branding as required.
  • In association with Director Corporate Marketing and Branding recommend appropriate communications, media and digital channels to deliver essential information to various target audiences
  • Collaborate with the rest of the team to achieve the goal and objectives of the Corporate Marketing and Branding department and find ways for continuous improvement.
Key Selection Criteria:
  • Minimum Bachelor\'s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Advertising/Media or similar field.
  • At least 5 years of copywriting experience - with a portfolio available for review. Experience in writing for digital platforms is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated required skills: copy writing, content editing, content analysis, content development and management, and content planning.
  • Excellent communication including impeccable grammar and writing skills to complete written assignments on tight deadlines.
  • Able to adapt writing style and tone based on projects and target audience.
  • A knack for communicating complex concepts in a simple manner that promotes understanding.
  • Exceptional editorial skills and methods to conduct autonomous research and interviews, sub-editing, fact checking and proofreading with the ability to self-edit your work.
  • Self-motivated, responsible, proactive and able to work as a team
  • Ability to write quickly and perform under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with multiple stakeholders.
