About the role:
For our L&H reinsurance contracts function we are seeking a Contracts Specialist to join our team supporting L&H reinsurance agreement of PartnerRe in the Asia Pacific region. Primary responsibilities include drafting and review of reinsurance agreements, advising on contract related matters, and engaging with internal clients to negotiate and finalize the terms of business contracts, as well as supporting the Head of Life Contracts to manage contract risks in reinsurance portfolio by conducting contract audits globally. This position will be based in Singapore or Hong Kong. You will join a highly engaged small team of contracts experts. Primary responsibilities of our contracts function includes drafting and review of reinsurance wordings, advising on contract related matters and engaging with internal and external clients to negotiate and finalize the terms of reinsurance contracts as well as the further development of our tool landscape and wording analytics.

Qualifications
Responsibilities:

  • Independently draft and review reinsurance contracts, non-disclosure agreements, addenda and any other auxiliary agreement to align written contractual documentation with business intent and corporate requirements;
  • Perform internal audits on reinsurance contacts and provide insights on risks related to contractual documentation and developing and maintaining strong governance risk and control standards with respect to contract wordings and processes;
  • Review and enhance reinsurance agreements in accordance with applicable law, regulations and internal requirements;
  • Coordinate, communicate and participate in development of corporate policies on contract related matters;
  • Collaborate with Client Partners and other stakeholder in contract negotiations, including discussions with external clients and brokers; and
  • Acting as expert technical advisor, providing guidance to various stakeholder and internal functions regarding contract formation, interpretation of contractual content, implications of particular contract language and best practices.

Additional Information
About you:
Technical
  • 3 or more years of experience in (re)insurance industry, claims or product role;
  • Solid understanding of L&H (re)insurance policy wordings, coverage, product, and business processes; and
  • Good skill and confidence in (re)insurance coverage agreement drafting.
Additional
  • External customer servicing, management, or advising experience an advantage;
  • Exposure to a multi-cultural work and / or client servicing environment; and
  • High level fluency in English including business terminology. Additional fluency in Chinese is a plus.
Education
  • Degree preferably in law or (re)insurance studies.
