Position Overview:

We are seeking a Lead LEC \xe2\x80\x93 ASP OU South East, leading Pacific Refreshment Pte Ltd LEC team for the legal entity finance activities. This is a Short Term Assignment (STA) for 5 months starting 15th May 2023

The Legal Entity Controller is primarily responsible for the end-to-end accounting and reporting of US and statutory financial statements of Pacific Refreshments Pte Ltd. In addition, this role is responsible for (a) identification and mitigation of strategic tax risks; (b) ensuring that tax incentive criteria are met; (c) establishing processes to ensure sustainable compliance with local tax regulations and local filing deadlines; (d) proactively managing accounting processes and routines at the legal entity to ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS and / or other local accounting regulations as well as company accounting policies; (e) safeguarding the resources of the company by enforcing internal controls & company policies, and continuously improving them to ensure smooth operations of the business.

This role partners and engages proactively with Senior Leadership, Corporate Stakeholders, EY, CPS and ASEAN South Pacific Operating Unit (ASP OU) clients, as well as strongly collaborates with Platform Services Finance Operations (PS Fin Ops) pillars, 3rd party services providers and other global peers to ensure a coordinated approach in managing business deliverables and processes.

Ideal candidates will possess the following key skills for this position: strong depth of accounting knowledge, including US GAAP, IFRS; familiarity with the Company\xe2\x80\x99s financial systems and infrastructure; deep knowledge of the Company\xe2\x80\x99s governance and Standard Policies and Procedures (SPP); strong project management skills and ability to communicate effectively cross functionally as well as the capable leadership management skills.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Tax Planning, Mitigation & Compliance

  • Proactively work with CPS, ASP OU, Platform Services and Corporate functions to mitigate tax risks (direct and indirect taxes) and ensure no violation of tax regulations.
  • Work closely with Plant Finance Manager, Corporate Tax & LEC team to ensure that the pioneer incentive criteria are met and no violation of tax regulations. This includes presentation of status updates to the leadership teams.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filings of tax returns (Corporate tax, GST, withholding tax and etc) and timely payment of taxes to local tax authority.
  • In liaison with CPS, ASP OU, Platform Services and Corporate functions, engage tax counsel and external tax advisers and coordinate responses to all tax audits and queries within timelines agreed with or demanded by tax authorities.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Corporate Secretary to ensure compliance with Companies\xe2\x80\x99 Act and other local/ secretarial requirements.
  • Manage compliance with transfer pricing regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filings of other statutory returns and surveys by local authorities (e.g. EDB surveys).
  • Ensure that the digital grant criteria are met, ensure the completion of agreed-upon procedures and the successful submission of claims to local authority. This includes presentation of status updates to the leadership teams.
Financial Reporting and Accounting
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of Local GAAP Financial Statements with no major findings.
  • Prepare AGM and board documents for the filing of financial statements.
  • Research and successfully communicate changes in IFRS and local accounting standards.
  • Review and understanding of AICs and SPP in order to ensure that the financial statements are being properly reported in accordance with accounting and business policies.
  • Review/ Approve journal vouchers for transactions originating from LEC team, CPS or ASP OU.
  • Review the work performed by Genpact Controllership team and provide support to the team as necessary. This includes review of balance sheet reconciliations, various quarterly/annual reporting forms, journal vouchers, input into lease controller tool prepared by Genpact LEC.
  • Troubleshoot when there are month end closing issues such as unresolved intercompany out of balance
  • Collaborate with Corporate when there are changes in the business operations that necessitate changes in accounting entries.
  • Monthly review of financial statements and variances, providing narratives when required and ensuring active follow-up as needed.
  • Responsible for interacting as needed with other teams such as Accounting Research, Corporate Treasury, Corporate Tax, Controllers Group, EY and other Platform Services Tower.
Audits, Control and Compliance
  • Main liaison for US GAAP and statutory audits by local EY auditors and coordinate with other associates in the CPS, ASP OU, Platform Services and Corporate Functions.
  • Support internal & other audits by providing business explanations to transactions and queries as necessary.
  • Updating of Platform Services - Controllership SOX documentation.
  • Manage the implementation and periodic review of the LCOA, Release Strategies & DOA.
Others
  • Develop Senior Accountant in handling audit, accounting, and tax issues.
  • Provide support especially tax related inputs in Global Initiatives (such as global network cost allocation, Project Contour).
  • Ensure the information in vendor master file is accurate. Ensure the information uploaded into the vendor account in SAP is accurate and comply with company procedures.
  • Review and approve debit and credit notes, intercompany charges
  • Work closely with Finance Manager/LEC team and corporate treasury to ensure the effective management of cash generated by PRPL including dividend remittances.
  • Assist treasury team in maintaining the updated banking records and KYC by the financial institutions.
What you bring to the table:
  • B.A. in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or related fields of study
  • 8 or more years related work experience, including experience in people management
  • Accounting qualification from a recognised Accounting body (Chartered Accountant, ACCA, CIMA, CPA)
  • Strong control and compliance background
  • US GAAP, local GAAP /International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) knowledge
  • Experience in manufacturing industry (MNC)
  • Tax Planning and Compliance knowledge (both direct and indirect taxes)
  • Experience in dealing with business issues with different (sometimes remote) stakeholders
