The Role

The Crane Operator at Toll Group is responsible for the skilled operation of cranes to load, unload, and move freight, materials, and equipment. The operator will ensure safe and efficient crane operations while adhering to company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Crane Operation: Operate various types of cranes, including mobile cranes, tower cranes, or overhead cranes, as required by the job and equipment availability.
• Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload freight, containers, and other materials from trucks, vessels, or other transportation modes using the crane.
• Material Handling: Move materials and equipment within storage yards, warehouses, or construction sites as needed.
• Equipment Inspection: Conduct pre-operational checks on assigned cranes to ensure they are in proper working condition. Report any defects or maintenance requirements to the appropriate personnel.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines, protocols, and regulations while operating cranes. Maintain a high level of awareness of surroundings to prevent accidents.
• Communication: Coordinate with other team members, supervisors, and ground personnel to ensure safe and effective lifting operations.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of crane operations, including loads lifted, distances moved, and any incidents or deviations from standard procedures.
• Maintenance: Assist maintenance personnel in routine maintenance and minor repairs of the crane equipment.
• Training and Development: Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and safety regulations related to crane operations.
• Emergency Response: Act calmly and efficiently in case of equipment malfunctions, emergencies, or incidents, following established procedures.

To be successful, you

• Valid crane operator certification or license as required by local regulations.
• Experience operating various types of cranes, with a demonstrated track record of safe and effective crane operations.
• Knowledge of rigging and lifting techniques.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures in crane operations.
