YOUR NEW JOB
As a Data Centre (DC) Operator, you'll support a government agency in maintaining smooth daily operations of their critical IT infrastructure. You'll monitor servers, storage, and network hardware, carry out environmental checks, manage tape handling, and support scheduled power maintenance.
The role is full-time contract role (renewable), based first in the Alexandra area, before relocating to Lavender after three months.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Monitor health of servers, storage, and network devices Perform daily visual inspections and log abnormalities Escalate hardware and network incidents promptly Handle backup tape management and media rotation Check temperature, humidity, and power in the DC Enforce access control and escort vendors/contractors Maintain inventory of equipment, spares, and consumables Support scheduled power maintenance activities
WHAT IS NEEDED FROM YOU
Minimum 1 year of experience in a data centre or IT operations role Familiarity with hardware checks, monitoring, and escalation procedures Willingness to work on-site (Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm; Sat only if needed)
