Data Protection and Technical Security Compliance Advisor (APAC)

Location: Singapore / Asia Flexible (Excl. China)

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our global Data Protection team as a Data Protection and Technical Security Compliance Advisor (APAC). As part of this team, you will be responsible for promoting awareness of information governance obligations and acting as the first point of contact for data governance queries. You will work closely with the Group Data Protection Officer and Information Security Manager to support compliance governance across the Merlin Group.

This role will ideally be based in Singapore, however we are flexible on your location in Asia, excluding China, as China has their own advisor. The salary on offer for this role is up to S$64,000 depending on skills and experience.

About the role...
The Data Protection and Compliance Advisor will be responsible for managing the data subject rights process, enforcing data governance policies, and rolling out and maintaining privacy compliance software. You\'ll also be assessing new projects from a data protection perspective, and undertake research on developments in cybersecurity and assist with internal and external data compliance reviews as required. Key objectives include:

• Actively contribute to promoting awareness of the information security and data protection functions across the group.

• Act as a central point of contact BAU data compliance matters in the region, liaising with the local and Group DPO, business stakeholders and the wider technology team.

• You will also be expected to support the data protection and information security teams with their roadmaps, strategies, recommendations and advice provisions.

About You...

• Experience gained within a compliance function - data protection or information security.

• Excellent communication skills - both to technical and non-technical people.

• A good understanding of technology and information solutions.

• A sound knowledge of data protection laws and regulations with the ability to apply the principles to business situations.

• Strong organisational skills.

• Ability to work to tight statutory deadlines and prioritise workload accordingly.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently.

• Fluency in English is required.
