Successful candidate’s primary job role would be in operations research, there will also be opportunity for job holder to gain exposure to other related work. We believe in upskilling our officers and exposing them to work spanning from end-to-end of the optimisation/simulation lifecycle.
What you will be working on
• Apply Operations Research (OR) techniques (simulation and mathematical programming such as linear programming, mixed integer programming) to address the diverse business needs for MHA • Collaborate closely with business users to extract actionable insights from data and processes and develop data-driven & optimised solutions to meet their needs • Develop OR models (mathematical programming or simulation models) and present analytical insights to business users and stakeholders • Manage large scale and complex OR studies which may be developed in-house of outsourced to external or consultancy agencies and/or academic institutions. • Strong understanding and actual project experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: o Mathematical Programming (eg linear programming, mixed integer programming) o Constraint Programming o Discrete-event simulation o Agent-based simulation
What we are looking for
• Candidates should possess at least a Bachelor degree in a quantitative discipline: Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or Operations Research or related disciplines. • Candidates must be good problem solvers with strong analytical and mathematical skills. Background in operations research, particularly knowledge in modelling and simulation, probability and mathematical programming is required. Candidates preferably have at least 2 years of relevant working experience. • Familiarity in mathematical programming tools and simulation tools such as IBM OPL, Cplex, Gurobi, Matlab, Arena, ExtendSim, AnyLogic and Vissim is an advantage. • Experience in SQL or handling of data (merging data and data transformation) or user interface development and proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Java and C/C++/C# is an advantage. • Able to work well both independently and as part of a team. • Able to communicate technical aspects effectively to non-technical audience.
All new appointees will be appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance.
