Data Scientist

Job Description
We have partnered with the trading hub of one of China's biggest oil and gas distributors to look for a Data Scientist to collaborate with their analyst and trading groups to develop in-house databases and forecast models that will support the business' trading and strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Develop python-coded supply-demand forecasting models
- Build price forecast models using machine learning models
- Convert excel-based forecasting models to python-based models
- Maintain and enhance existing models with changing market dynamics
- Work closely with data engineers to ensure the data feed for forecast models is collected and processed properly.
- Document methodologies, algorithms and processes to present to stakeholders on a regular basis.
Requirements:
- PhD in computer science/computer engineering, mathematics, statistics, or similar subjects preferred
- 2 to 5 years of experience working in data analytics or data science
- Extensive data modeling and data architecture skills
- Proficiency in Python, R, or Java
- Energy sector knowledge or data research experience preferred
