Our client is a telecom provider offers broadband and internet services across several countries, focusing on fiber connectivity and lean operations. This role is primarily responsible for ensuring robust data protection and system resilience through comprehensive backup, storage, and disaster recovery management. Secondarily, to support company's database construction, migration, upgrade, maintenance.

Backup and Database Specialist (1-year renewable contract)

The Role:

The

Backup and Database Specialist

will lead the design, configuration, and maintenance of the Veeam backup environment, ensuring secure and recoverable data across both on-premises and cloud infrastructures. Key duties include monitoring daily backup operations, conducting regular recovery tests, managing offsite replication, and maintaining documentation for disaster recovery procedures. The role also involves administering enterprise storage systems such as 3PAR and Isilon.


In addition, the position supports database lifecycle management, including construction, migration, upgrades, and performance optimization. Responsibilities include implementing database changes, tuning SQL queries, ensuring data integrity and security, and designing scalable, high-availability database architectures. The candidate will also be expected to enforce development standards and maintain accurate documentation of database schemas and sizing.

Candidate to meet the following Must-haves:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field Minimum 3 years of experience in data protection, database management, and recovery, with a strong focus on Veeam backup solutions Proficiency in installing, configuring, and managing Veeam Backup & Replication Familiarity with storage technologies such as SAN and NAS, and backup protocols like CIFS, NFS, and iSCSI Experience with virtualization platforms including VMware and Hyper-V Solid understanding of Windows Server and Linux operating systems Knowledge of cloud storage solutions and Veeam Cloud Connect Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Effective communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Nice-to-have Skills

Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) or other relevant certifications Understanding of networking principles and protocols related to backup and recovery Experience in database performance tuning and optimization Familiarity with database design for high availability and disaster recovery Knowledge of personal data protection and data security best practices

Candidates who are not suitable:

Those without hands-on experience in Veeam Backup & Replication Candidates lacking foundational knowledge in storage technologies and virtualization platforms Individuals unfamiliar with both Windows and Linux server environments Applicants unable to work independently in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment
