The Acquisitions, Divestments and New Business Development (\xe2\x80\x9cDeal Making\xe2\x80\x9d) team focused on the Renewables and Energy Solutions (\xe2\x80\x9cRES\xe2\x80\x9d) business is seeking a Deal Lead to join the team with a specific focus on the Asia region. Deal Making is at the heart of the portfolio transformations and complex negotiations required to deliver Shell\xe2\x80\x99s strategic intent.

This is a senior position that plays a key role in originating and executing direct equity investments in RES projects and companies covering power generation (onshore and offshore renewables, and gas), power trading and retail, hydrogen, nature-based solutions and carbon, capture and storage.

This role is ideal for highly motivated experienced candidates who enjoy working in a fast-paced international environment and have a passion for new business development within the energy industry. The candidate should possess a strong network of contacts, and experience in the renewables and energy solutions space in Asia.

The Team

The regional team headquartered in Singapore covers potential investments across APAC and Australia and works on an integrated basis with teams based in London, the Hague and Houston. The team closed several transactions in 2022 such as acquisition of Powershop (a B2C retailer) in Australia, set-up of a solar JV in the Philippines and the acquisition of Sprng Energy (solar and wind developer) in India. This position will be expected to collaborate closely with teams in Europe and the US while participating in groupwide activities and support of broader deal execution processes. What\'s the role?

• Investment Strategy (Origination) \xe2\x80\x93 Based on a strong sector understanding and relationships, the candidate will develop and pursue investment ideas. They will manage the investment screening process in coordination with other regional and business teams. They will be able to apply investment judgement and rigor to deal pipeline and have a strong understanding of value creation strategies, portfolio construction, risk-reward sharing etc.
• Direct Investments (Execution) \xe2\x80\x93 The candidate will lead due diligence, structuring, negotiation and closing of RES investment opportunities in Asia. In addition to representing Shell externally for negotiation and execution of transaction documentation, the candidate leads communications with internal committees, identifies and manages external advisors for due diligence and process management. They can oversee internal valuation of sophisticated investment opportunities and can identify and mitigate risks while making clear investment recommendations to senior management. The candidate is focused on long-term value creation including set-up of value tracking KPIs at the investment stage.
• Relationships & team building (Leadership) \xe2\x80\x93 The candidate will help manage and build global and regional relationships with external stakeholders on behalf of Shell. Further, as a senior member of the RES Deal Making team in the East, the candidate will play a key role in fostering an entrepreneurial, closely knit and collaborating culture within the team. The candidate is resourceful and works constructively with internal and external stakeholders and can switch easily between a \xe2\x80\x9chands-on\xe2\x80\x9d style (steps in to achieve results) and \xe2\x80\x9cdelivering through others\xe2\x80\x9d (influence/coach other deal team members).

What we need from you?

• 10+ years of experience in corporate development, renewables fund, developer, project finance, investment banking or other energy transition focused roles
• Strong network within Asia across renewable energy and energy transition sectors providing a basis for origination activity
• Proven experience in leading successful deals (sourcing, analysis, due diligence, execution and implementation) including direct experience in geographies across Asia.
• Demonstrated relationship building experience with target management teams, external stakeholders (investment partners, funds, investment banks, due diligence advisors etc.).
• Strong analytical, commercial and financial skills with attention to detail & a hands-on approach (willing to originate and lead transactions on a day-to-day basis)
• Outstanding project management, risk identification and mitigation capabilities, and organizational engagement skills to execute efficiently on multiple opportunities
• Strong believer and compliance with Health, Safety, Security and Environment, and Ethics & Compliance standards.
• Skilled communicator with ability to persuade multicultural teams with internal and external members. Ability to distil complexity into clear and actionable ideas, make investment or divestment recommendations with courage and conviction.
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills and entrepreneurial spirit willing to assume additional responsibilities
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed
