The Role Responsibilities This role is responsible for supporting the development of Carbon Markets strategy and products for Financial Markets, including the infrastructure and platforms that support the Bank's ESG products. The role will work closely with Trading, Sales and Structuring in both Macro Trading and Global Credit as well as CCIB to ensure effective commercialisation of emissions and transition finance products. The role will also work closely with the offices of Group and regional CEOs, Corporate Development, Sustainable Finance, Group Sustainability, SCVentures, Technology, Legal, Compliance and other support functions to onboard new carbon market products and participate in new markets as they develop. The role includes engaging with external stakeholders such as media, clients, regulators and industry associations to stay abreast of developments in carbon markets and advance the Bank's interests by innovating in new areas and growing market share where established solutions are in place. The role includes the following responsibilities, Product Innovation and Strategy : Be a key champion of Chapter 3 and in particular the Accelerating Zero stand within FM. Work with the internal Transition Finance team to guide carbon product development that can be integrated into our transition frameworks for clients. Work closely with Trading, Sales and Structuring to support development of new products and markets that are appropriate and relevant to the Bank's client base. Ensure all CAs and PPGs are approved to allow marketing and trading of carbon products as appropriate Support product and client teams to originate and negotiate carbon related contracts Understand industry developments, the risks associated with the asset class and be able to represent the Group & FM ESG strategy to internal and external stakeholders including media, clients, regulator and industry associations. Work closely with Banking and Sales to critically assess opportunities, areas of growth and potential risks, with the aim to drive sustainable growth in carbon product revenues. Help to build the Research capability required to support the new asset class, including marketing reports and client analysis. Develop appropriate sales and marketing material, including pitchbooks, product sheets and educational information Work with Climate Risk, GPRA and CABM to identify related risks, devise strategies to manage them and products to capitalise on them Technology : Work with Technology to design and implement an ecosystem that supports carbon products for Financial Markets. Work with the support and control functions as the Bank launches new products and will ensure the post trade processes are designed to support carbon products. Support the Bank's engagement with new exchanges, platforms and multilateral organisations such as the ICVCM. People and Talent Assist the training of FM sales staff and RMs in relevant FM products and platforms as they relate to carbon products. Assist FM Sales in liaising with Global Banking on the commercialisation of FM carbon products with clients Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations, work in collaboration with risk and control partners. Adherence to code of conduct prescribed by relevant authorities Risk Management Adhere to all Group Policies and relevant legislation covering credit, operational, reputational risk among others. Commitment to Group Code of Conduct and act as a role model for Conduct Timely completion of all mandatory e-learning, attestations, compliance requirements and requests for information. Work with COO and 2nd line functions to ensure appropriate frameworks and operational infrastructure are in place to facilitate compliance with industry codes & applicable external laws and regulations in the handling, use and dissemination of client data.
