Responsibilities
As a key member of the Country Finance division, the role focuses on value protection and creation for the Bank through ensuring the financial reports for the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Branch and subsidiaries in Singapore are prepared in accordance with relevant policies and accounting standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
To deal with matters relating to:
\xe2\x80\xa2 Financial reporting, including:

  • Liaison with Group Finance and Technical Accounting on accounting / reporting matters and new requirements.
  • Liaison with shared services team to ensure the robust controls and submission of the Group financial reporting for Singapore entities as per prescribed timelines.
  • Partnership with counter parties from other finance teams and shared services team for local statutory account preparation and audit for Singapore entities
  • Liaison with stakeholders from Product Control, Business Finance, Credit, etc, to ensure accuracy of granular reporting.
  • Liaison with internal and external auditors on audit / accounting issues.
  • Resolution of queries related to accounting and reporting.
  • To perform logical checks on information reported and provide in depth variance analysis
  • Participating in Change projects related to Project Aspire (Finance Transformation) \xe2\x80\x93 helping with analysis on accounting flows from Transaction Processing systems to the General Leger to see if these are in line with IFRS reporting requirements and advising if any amendments are required
  • Collaborating with Finance teams in Asia region to implement Project Aspire related changes
  • Drive process improvement in the BAU reporting
Qualifications & Skills
\xe2\x80\xa2 Relevant financial management and accounting experience and qualifications (ACA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA)
\xe2\x80\xa2 Strong knowledge of IFRS/FRS (e.g. IFRS9, IFRS10 etc) and its application in the BAU
\xe2\x80\xa2 Experience in preparing statutory accounts including consolidated financial statements of banks. Previous exposure to risk management related reporting will be an added advantage
\xe2\x80\xa2 Good understanding of banking products
\xe2\x80\xa2 Sound understanding of MAS regulations and guidelines would be a plus
\xe2\x80\xa2 Strong working knowledge of PeopleSoft GL, SAP and transaction processing systems in the Banking industry
\xe2\x80\xa2 A high degree of integrity and the ability to challenge the views and actions of others in a constructive manner
\xe2\x80\xa2 Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex messages quickly and succinctly to various senior stakeholders
\xe2\x80\xa2 High levels of drive and resilience along with attention to detail
\xe2\x80\xa2 Track record of working in a very organized way, multi-tasking, prioritising, and setting and achieving deadlines (both short and long term)
\xe2\x80\xa2 Good problem-solving skills with ability to trouble shoot effectively when situation demands

Ideal candidate Contract Role (DC) \xe2\x80\x93 12 months is the duration.
  • 10+Years of experience with financial reporting in banks. Relevant financial management and accounting qualifications (ACA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/FRS (e.g. IFRS9, IFRS10 etc) and its application in the BAU
  • Experience in preparing statutory accounts (knowledge in consolidated financial statement an added advantage) and good understanding of bank products.
  • Experience of providing finance business partnering to a technology department within an organisation that has a technology budget of >$250million is highly desirable
  • Significant experience of providing finance business partnering to senior management in an organization
  • Strong working knowledge of PeopleSoft, SAP and transaction processing systems in the Banking industry. Familiar with Standard Chartered Bank finance processes and systems desirable
  • Experience of driving change and process re-engineering.
  • Skilled when it comes to attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and good problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with finance project (e.g. finance transformation) would be beneficial.
  • Be able to constructively challenge and influence where appropriate to ensure the overall goals of the business and the bank are aligned.
  • Strong analytical skills in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Can act as a key source of reference and guidance on financial control frameworks \xe2\x80\x93 finance subject matter expert.
