The Role Responsibilities
Strategy
  • To support the CCIB business to manage the operational activities pertaining to Client Tax Due Diligence Process.
Business
  • Support the Business Process Owners in Client Tax process execution queries
  • Support the Business Process Owners to execute control sample tests and key control/risk indicator tracking
Processes
  • Support the Business Process Owners to execute control sample tests and key control/risk indicator tracking
  • Provide ad-hoc process, project support to the Global Banking and Commercial Banking business and operations team impacted by FATCA and CRS.
  • Provide recommendation on process improvements in areas of efficiency, control, and work quality.
Processes Owner Support
To support the Global Process Owner / delegates in executing accountability over Client Lifecycle Processes through:
  • Be responsible to the Global Process Owner / delegates
  • Support Process Owner responsibilities at each stage of the RCSA, from new process and risk identification through to monitoring implemented controls, on a minimum of an annual basis or when a trigger event occurs (e.g. a change in control effectiveness)
  • Support ensuring all agreed elevated residual risk actions and treatment plans are completed timely and smoothly by all action owners, and logged into the Group OR management system
  • Understand Agile delivery impact on the process: Identify risks and dependencies, assess impact on critical processes and residual risk.
  • Discuss, review and approve Change Risk Assessments (where required) and any process impact assessment ahead of change initiatives go-lives, including for "minor" change initiatives
  • Contribute to the prioritisation process for process activities within the demand management process
People and Talent
  • Display strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills on a daily basis in implementation of process improvements and risk management.
  • Collaborate with other members of the team to ensure governance and coverage of key risk areas and implement the required controls.
Risk Management
  • Manage global Change in Circumstance management information (MI) reports and ensure changes are properly cured
  • Manage the Financial Account monitoring report and distribute reports to the respective country teams
  • Collation and distribution of risk metrics and data to business stakeholders where relevant
  • Highlight risks to management and actively monitor them to reduce the likelihood of occurrence
Governance
  • Support account opening cases that has legal agreement executions to ensure compliance with product documentation requirements .
  • Review data requirements with group process standards and identify potential sources of non-compliance
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Overall 8+ experience in Banking/Financial Industry
  • 3+ years' Experience and exposure to client tax domains including US FATCA and CRS regulations.
  • Understanding of Client Tax process, governance and controls.
  • Strong experience in stakeholder management and client network support.
  • Ability to take on a subject matter expert role for network queries.
  • Understanding of Operational and tax reporting risks, and mitigating controls.
  • Strong understanding of tax regulations: FATCA, CRS, and US Tax regulations
  • Experience in Tax operations, compliance, audit, and/or regulatory risk management
Role Specific Technical Competencies
  • Sharp business acumen and attention to details, including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return.
  • Proven ability to requirements and identification of relevant approaches for issues resolution
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment
  • Demonstrated self-starter and takes initiatives to proactively prioritize and manage team workload
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise fashion, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience in dealing with stakeholders from varying geographical location
