About this role

Job Purpose/Background:

Reporting to the APAC Head of Sustainable & Transition Solutions and with additional accountability to the Head of Southeast Asia, this role and associated team members will drive BlackRock\'s sustainable and transition investing strategy across the vibrant Southeast Asia region (SEA).

Sustainable & Transition Solutions (STS) is BlackRock\'s central sustainability function that leads our firmwide sustainability and transition strategy, drives cross-functional change, supports client engagements, improves product ideation, and embeds sustainability expertise across the firm. The role\'s primary responsibility is to be a convener of, and champion for, our commercial strategy and ecosystem engagement activities across the SEA region.

Key Responsbilities:

  • Develop and drive the client commercialisation strategy in sustainability & transition for SEA, collaborating with sales teams to engage & partner with APAC asset owners - for example, project-managing the SEA aspects of the strategic global Transition Capital venture
  • Champion internal education and capacity-building efforts across sales teams and other key internal partners
  • Implement external events and educational/ marketing efforts in partnership with APAC Marketing to activate and promote thought leadership collateral and product launches, e.g. client conferences/ roundtables, online learning modules, newsletters, speaking engagements and media interactions
  • Partner with the APAC Public Policy Group to engage with the evolving regulatory & policy environment: e.g. convene responses to surveys/ consultations
  • Contribute subject matter expertise to market development efforts and collaborative industry forums, in particular providing support to the Head of SEA as Co-Chair of the Singapore Sustainable Finance Association
  • Represent and establish the firm as a leading voice and thinker on sustainability. Synthesize and communicate trends, developments, and insights with clients, media, policymakers, financial firms, corporates, and other sustainability stakeholders. Do the same within the firm to increase awareness and knowledge of sustainability.
  • Manage and mentor the additional Singapore-based STS team members (currently one associate and one incoming analyst)
  • Collaborate with the other APAC and global STS and research pillars on cross-functional and cross-regional projects where appropriate, such as research content, product development and policy engagement
Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
  • 10-15 years relevant experience per below
  • Substantial external credibility and prior experience/ subject matter expertise in sustainability, particularly climate change, is essential
  • This does not necessarily need to be direct investment management experience - we may consider a diverse range of backgrounds, including for example academia, consultancy, law, policy, journalism, NGOs. However, the individual must offer strong commercial acumen and deep understanding of and interest in the connection between sustainability and investment outcomes.
  • Self-motivated individual, with the ability to think strategically and commercially to proactively drive new business
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to build relationships with and educate external and internal stakeholders
  • Team player; ability to manage projects through collaboration with cross-disciplinary global teams
  • Experience in and/or knowledge of SEA markets are valued but not essential
  • People leadership experience preferred
