About the role :

You\'ll serve as the regional deputy to the global head of communications, helping us scale our business across Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and India. You who will play a crucial role in the way we portray ourselves externally. It is through our media stories, awards, and speaking engagements that we can communicate the benefits of our technology, express our values, and inspire confidence in those that may have a use for our services. It is important that we have a strong storytelling leader to for these initiatives across the widespread region.

The Director of Communications will lead our communications strategy across the region, from drafting and pitching media releases, coordinating speaking engagements, and preparing regional leaders for media opportunities. You\'ll work closely with your colleagues within Nium\'s Global Communications team to tailor a program unique to the region.

Responsibilities:

Every day is different at Nium, but here are some of the things you will be doing on your day to day:

  • Be the on-the-ground leader for global announcements
  • Draft, coordinate, and pitch regional press announcements;
  • Increase Nium\'s global reputation through earned media coverage across the region;
  • Build relationships with key journalists in the fintech/ banking and finance space;
  • Build our external executive presence and thought leadership through regional speaking opportunities and events;
  • Support on localising global initiatives and key messages for the region;
  • Collaborate on a regional narrative and source the proof points for bringing this narrative to life;
  • Lead on executing regional communications strategies to grow our media share of voice around key themes;
  • Draft and coordinate regional awards and speaker submissions; and,
  • Collaborate on creating narratives and messaging for different target audience segments across the regions.

Candidates have:
  • University degree in Communications/Journalism/Administration or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in communication positions of increasing responsibility
  • PR agency experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of all aspects of communications, including executive positioning, media relations and social media, product communication, investor relations, crisis communication and project management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective manager and leader, who can bring working teams together to achieve results around common objectives
  • Ability to negotiate and form consensus among various parties
  • Experience in supporting the execution of strategic, long-term communication plans, as well managing short-term issues
  • Experience providing communications counsel and support to senior executives, as well as working with teams from different cultures and time zones.
  • Pragmatic with strong attention to detail, result oriented, motivated, reliable, and trustworthy
  • Ability to deliver in high pressure situations and with short deadlines
  • Strong ethics and integrity
  • Flexibility needed for working within different time zones
  • Pharmaceutical business experience preferred, European/Emerging Markets- and vaccines knowledge an advantage
Nice to haves:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master\'s degree is a plus.
  • Familiarity with global payments and card issuing highly desirable
  • Proficiency in foreign language
