Director of Operation \xe2\x80\x93 APAC (Singapore)

In this critical role, you will lead the APAC regional operations strategies and programs across 43 Countries and Territories. With your business and operations expertise, you will take full ownership of the following:

Role Responsibilities:

  • Drive E2E Top service quality at 200,000 locations \xe2\x80\x93 including 50,000 kiosks, direct master agents, post offices, independent channels and retail locations owned and operated by Western Union.
  • Manage definitive portfolio of all key and revenue driven project activity that is value driven and responsive to both regional and central priorities within 43 Countries & Territories with a high complexity and intricacy of jurisdictions, regulatory environments, license types, MT systems, agent legacy technologies inherited from previous agent acquisitions, within 35 currencies and 50+ languages.
  • Establish management structures/processes to ensure effective oversight and governance at individual project level. Oversee and drive the project plans; Ensure Business satisfaction with progress and deliver results to agreed quality, schedule and budget.
  • Ensure portfolio underpinned by solid, detailed plans for each project that are agreed with owners and fully address dependencies, risk, issues etc. resource allocation/utilization.
  • Drive effective control and reporting mechanisms to mitigate risk, with a core focus on KYC and KYA. Lead initial and ongoing operational execution, entity oversight and risk management framework for major regulatory requirements specific to the region, with a strong focus on implementing and maintaining solutions for the local regulation as well as substantial regulatory obligations to maintain the operating licenses in the region.
  • Establish comprehensive operations planning to clarify service impacts and mitigate implementation risks. Ensure controlled approach to implementation by maintaining solid local plans that "operationalize" tasks/activities in support of the objectives and timeframes for the project/initiative. Oversee and drive the ops implementation effort.
  • Proactive management of business and other regional relationships with appropriate intervention and escalation to resolve issues/risks.
  • Leading and developing regional/multi-located team. Foster a team environment of engagement, communication and inspiration while equipping directs to build management skills that reinforce culture, collaboration and execution.
  • Manages a team of around 20 employees with responsibility of hiring, coaching and mentoring Operation talents in the region.
Role Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant professional working experience in operations within the financial services sector, preferably with direct experience in remittance payments including knowledge of key players in this area.
  • Able to take a strong leadership role in implementing policies and procedures to support organizational objectives and business success.
  • Able to have transparent and productive relationships with peers and collaborate successfully.
  • Ability to be a company-wide change-agent that influences strategic actions and mindset changes.
  • Desirable experience with retail financial products and the operating strategies aligned to it.
  • Used to working in an international matrix organization environment.
  • Proven track record of influencing positive change in supporting organizations via continual process improvement.
  • Proven leadership ability, able to delegate effectively whilst retaining complete overview.
