Director Of External Communications, Services

Singapore, S00, SG, Singapore

Job Description

Our client from the Services sector is looking for a Director of External Communications and Corporate Reputation, a newly created role that will shape our client's public image and long-term trust with diverse stakeholders. Sitting at the group level, this role will steer external communications strategy across multiple markets and business lines.

The successful candidate will be entrusted with three key pillars--

Crisis & Issues Management, Branding & Corporate Reputation, and Media Relations

--to safeguard and enhance the organization's reputation.

Key Responsibilities

Crisis & Issues Management

Lead the development and execution of a group-wide crisis and issues communications strategy. Partner with Group Risk, Legal, and Business Continuity teams for scenario planning, simulations, and response alignment. Provide real-time counsel to senior leadership during high-stakes incidents, crafting precise, timely, and impactful communications.

Branding & Corporate Reputation

Develop and implement profiling and positioning strategies that strengthen public goodwill and trust. Drive proactive reputation-building programs during "peacetime," not only in response to crises. Lead strategic campaigns that reinforce the organization's corporate purpose, sustainability commitments, and leadership profile.

Media & Stakeholder Relations

Oversee spokesperson training, proactive engagement, and message discipline for senior leaders. Build and maintain trusted relationships with journalists, government agencies, regulators, and industry partners. Monitor media sentiment, anticipate risks, and recommend agile responses to protect corporate reputation.

Leadership & Special Projects

Provide executive communications counsel to the C-suite, including speeches, interviews, and thought-leadership content. Lead special projects and cross-functional initiatives tied to brand reputation, crisis preparedness, and external engagement.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, Public Policy, or related field (Master's degree preferred). 15+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public affairs, or media relations, with a proven track record in high-stakes crisis and issues management. Strong experience managing communications across B2G, B2B, and B2C audiences. Demonstrated ability to influence and counsel senior leadership with sound judgment and fast decision-making under pressure. In-depth knowledge of evolving communications threats, tools, and best practices. Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement, and public-facing communication skills. Hands-on experience with spokesperson training, reputation monitoring tools, and government/media engagement.
