Position summary statement: Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Director of Sales directs the day-to-day activities, plans, organizes, develops and communicates strategies and goals f Position summary statement: Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Director of Sales directs the day-to-day activities, plans, organizes, develops and communicates strategies and goals for the team. He or she is responsible for developing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and implementing sales strategies for the various industry sectors under his/her care. The Director of Sales works hand in hand with the Director of Sales & Marketing to create and implement hotel-level tactical sales plans analyze current/potential market and sales trends and coordinate all activities to maintain and increase revenue and market share through added business volume and increased rate for the Hotel. Primary Responsibilities: Strategic Planning and Implementation Formulation and direction of the sales team strategy and targets and leading the sales team to achieve the overall targets within budget Work together with the Director of Sales & Marketing to support the development of the annual Business Plan, Hotel Budget and Marketing Plan in line with corporate goals and objectives Follow hotel performance and short-term forecasts to find weak periods and identify customers for those periods Business Development Responsible for ensuring overall revenue goals are achieved and/or exceeded by maximizing room and catering revenue through solicitation of past and new business, participation in sales meetings, associate outings, recreational activities and in settling an outstanding personal example for other hotel associates to follow Generate requests for proposals and manage efforts to secure group business in corporate for the various industry sectors Conduct market research on competitors and latest industry news to identify business development opportunities Continuously solicit for new business and meet with key clients and assist the sales team with maintaining relationships, negotiations and closing deals Prospecting and growing an account list, handling incoming leads and closing sales Plan, execute and follow-up on sales calls Participate in the sales meeting by updating business pick-up generated for the week Attend tradeshows, travel functions, major business functions or as required/directed by the Director of Sales & Marketing. Human Capital Management and Development Attract, retain, train, and motivate a diverse sales force and build a top notch sales team Effectively execute and manage every element of the sales process on an individual level and taking the initiative to go beyond what is expected to achieve outstanding performance Provide leadership on the day-to-day operations of the sales team, while maintaining focus on the department and company's strategic goals Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly for the team Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop the sales team Provide clear directions which would simplify the role of the support staff General Gain excellent knowledge of the hotel facilities and services and apply that knowledge in selling against our competitors Comprehend the hotel's business plans and strategic directions Demonstrate good working relationship with other departments maintaining effective communication and teamwork Comprehend, digest and comply to hotel policies and procedure as described in the Associate Handbook and other documents Support and uphold the Hotel's mission, vision and guiding principles Actively assist the Credit Department or other departments in follow-up of overdue accounts or other matters Adhere to all established policies and procedures relating to administration of accounts and ultimate booking of business Prepare periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion Professionally handle customers' inquiries on a timely basis Lead and actively participate in departmental meetings Accomplish and/or exceed personal and team's established targeted revenue External a) Demonstrate and be perceived as a role model for: Professionalism and outstanding people relation skills Excellent communication and motivation skills Inspiring associates to perform their work scope with a high level of quality and integrity Championing and driving sales Innovative thinking b) Comply with all local regulations (if any) c) Maintain highest standards of professionalism, ethics, grooming and attitude towards associates, guests/customers, suppliers and other clients d) Maintain professional confidentiality at all times
