Job Description

Prepare detailed drawings, layouts, and construction documentation using AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software. Work from rough sketches, specifications, and verbal instructions from architects, engineers, or project managers. Ensure drawings are in compliance with local building codes, zoning laws, and regulations. Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to incorporate design changes and resolve discrepancies. Revise drawings as necessary based on client feedback, engineering input, or site constraints. Maintain version control of all project drawings and documentation. Assist in compiling documentation for planning approvals and permits. Participate in design team meetings and site visits as required.

Education:

Diploma or Certificate in Drafting, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, or related field. Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering (preferred but not always required).

Experience:

1-3+ years of drafting experience in a construction, architectural, or engineering firm. Experience with commercial or residential projects is an asset.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar). Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and building codes. Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings. Experience with 3D modeling (optional but desirable). Familiarity with BIM processes is a plus.

Soft Skills:

Attention to detail and accuracy. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively. * Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
